Where is this info coming from?
Surely this can not be set in stone so early?
BMW where only ever going to release 2700 1Ms and ended up making over 6000 and only stopped because they ran out of time with the E82 production run.
Although BMW UK kept their word with 450 cars.
The UK tally will ultimately be up to BMW UK (a cap that is).
190 or so UK dealers getting between 2 and 4 cars for 2016 means anywhere between 400 and 600 cars in 2016. Who knows what will happen in 2017 and onwards with regards to the production run but they are not going to be flooding the dealers with unwanted stock based on the level of interest already.
Just found out mine is the first to arrive at my chosen dealer in August 2016. Very excited, but obviously a long way off. Gone for Blue with manual, sun protection, HK stereo and folding mirrors. Only seen the blue in the flesh on a dealer colour board but a must being the launch colour.

M2 production finish has already been programmed, so there is probably a maximum number per production week from the plant set aside for the M2, so with that number x number of weeks in the production run = total number (approx.)Surely this can not be set in stone so early?

These numbers were already being branded about in threads in the 1/2 Addicts forum months ago, and so far, what was being presumed back then isn't to far away from what has actually happened so far.
Dealer has said it is a lottery how the first cars have been allocated, but guessing dealers who sent early speculator deposit info back sooner would have got priority on the first cars. To be fair, Luckily my dealer didn't have any early deposits otherwise i wouldn't be getting mine next year at all.
Finally some contact with my dealer today.
True or not they are saying they have no allocation numbers from BMW. and cant say when I will get one as order books haven't opened on the system. I know someone else with a deposit at the same dealer and they are being told the same.
Im going in to confirm spec next week, he said he would show me the status of orders/slots on the system.
100% im going for white with some carbon/black bits added.

I am number two on my dealers list but would really like some sort of confirmation on build numbers for the M2, I'm not that interested in buying if after year 1 they are going to open the flood gates. It would be far more sensible in that case to take an M4 with the cheaper finance and discounts.

If you can afford the M4 then why not go for it. you will get much more car for your money and a lot more certainty on delivery...undred orse said:
Anyone had any news from their dealer about allocations?
Are all the order slots taken now or are there still dealers with slots available?
I believe all the dealer allocations were done earlier in November, mine is getting two and I'm second on the list but don't have a build date yet. They contacted me on Monday and told me that they expect to be advised of their build slots this Friday 27th.Are all the order slots taken now or are there still dealers with slots available?
I think once people start getting dates and being asked for bigger deposits I'm sure some potential buyers will drop out so I'm sure it's still worth staying in touch with dealers in case a slot opens up.

That isn't correct. The 1M was always going to be about 7K cars worldwide. The figure was set before production began. Which meant the maximum allocation for the UK was 450 cars.
The M2 is not a limited edition car, but because it doesn't have a dedicated production line it can only be built at a certain pace. There will be approx. 500 UK cars per year for the next couple of years. With a maximum production of no more than 14K cars worldwide.
Cat amongst the pigeons time - the N55 engine will not meet euro emissions legislation in 2 years. Which means the M2 will get a new engine at that point.

BMW UK publicly announced they were sticking to the 450.

Just checked Wikipedia
"BMW was originally going to release the 1M Coupé as a limited production model of 2,700 units. Due to overwhelming demand, the company lifted the cap. Nevertheless, production of the 1M Coupé stopped in June 2012, with 740 units sold in the US and a further 220 sold in Canada. Total 6309 cars sold worldwide"
