Well, the waiting is over.
The reviews are online and from what I've read so far (Evo, Top Gear, Autocar) it would appear that this car has lived up to the considerable hype and is what we on here were all hoping it would be!

I'm still waiting for a build slot, been told since October 15 that i was second on the dealers waiting list and now they are saying they have only had one this year. Does not seem right considering the size of the dealership so I'm calling Bulls*** - they don't seem forthcoming in putting it in writing either  Customer service = woeful.

Is there anyway to check how many built slots each dealer has secured to see if they are telling porkies?

Are you a previous customer of this dealer?

Mines due september. (No.2 at dealer) Must admit im in 2 mind if I should go ahead or not.

2 things swaying me.

1. I recently bought a late E92 Comp pack as stop gap when I found out the M2 wasn't coming until September. and I love it, not sure ill want to part with it so soon and dont have the space for both.

2. I love the look of the M2 with the carbon diffuser, boot lip, grills etc M performance suspension gives it the look it should have had standard (granted some lower springs would be cheaper) and I really think it needs an exhaust Akra or the M offering. So that lot adds a considerable chunk to the price. 6k maybe? Then it starts to look like an expensive car at 53-54k. I know I wouldnt be happy if I didnt have these.

Best option is probably to keep the order in and decide when it arrives if its a keeper. Dont think ill have any problem selling on.

Then theres manual or DCT??

I suppose it comes down to the trust you have in this sales person from your experience of him/her?

Your concerns strike a chord with me. I bought a succession of BMW's some years ago. All from the same dealer and with one exception from the same sales person. Although it is some years since I have had a BMW I called them regarding the M2. I spoke with the sales manager who had been there for some years. We had a conversation and the salesman I dealt with was there when the now SM first started.
I would have liked to have placed my deposit with them, but unfortunately I would have been 5th in succession. Whereas I managed to get third in line with another dealer (whom I have never bought from previously).
They seemed quite fudgy about stipulating in writing that I was no. 3 saying that is not something they usually do.

I have a concern, partly due to the very favourable publicity the car has received, as to how secure my position would be should a regular customer of theirs walk through the door today and decide to place an order.

I would like to think that your dealer would have no reason to overlook you though?

Of course not. They are looking forward to you:
- financing through them on a nice juicy 4 year PCP
- taking out a nice juicy £700 GAP insurance policy
- getting the car treated with snakeoil for just £400
- part exchanging a very good condition, retailable car for a few grand under trade

Oh wait... You're not doing any of those with them? Hmm.... Then let's hope one of their existing customers who ticks those boxes doesn't call in asking for a September car!

The only commitment I can get out of my dealer is a video message confirming that my car is still due in November, why he can't just write that in an email like a normal person would is beyond me.

Just realised it doesn't feature programmable M buttons on the steering wheel. The current M3, M4, M5, M6, X5M and X6M all have these.

As did the 1M.... although back then it was just a single 'M' button rather than 'M1' and 'M2'

Anyone have prices for these parts yet?

-Black kidney grills
-Carbon rear diffuser
-Carbon front and side fins
-Carbon mirror caps
-Carbon boot lip
-Black side m2 logos

That lots not going to be cheap, then add.

-M performance exhaust
-M adjustable coilovers. ---- 1962 Euro/ Approx £1530

Whats the guess?

Edit to add Euro price found of Coilovers

Strangely enough I have been asked questions along those lines at this very early stage...

I've just had a 20 minute conversation with the sales manager at the dealership in question and i was correct in my assumptions that not everything was as it seemed. They have said that although i was technically 2nd in the queue that was for personal and they have put 1 car into personal and 1 car into business - what a load of Bo******

They have said that they are going to try over the next few weeks to secure me a car for 2016 but lets be honest the chances of that are slim to none. I feel bloody cheated and i'm sure the personal / business is a load of B******

I feel your disappointment. This is exactly the type of behaviour I am concerned about. Why weren't you told this when you placed your deposit?
Are you taking it further?

It is complete rubbish, i have in writing from the sales guy on the 23rd October 15:

"We have 1 customer that has ordered before you"

On principle i will take this as far as it needs to go ...
