It is complete rubbish, i have in writing from the sales guy on the 23rd October 15:
"We have 1 customer that has ordered before you"
On principle i will take this as far as it needs to go ...
One customer. That appears clear enough to me? Keep us updated. "We have 1 customer that has ordered before you"
On principle i will take this as far as it needs to go ...

My dealer was reluctant to give me anything in writing that I was no.3 and therein lie my concerns, as he is 90 miles away how will I know if they keep their word?

I suspect the 'business' buyer will either be the DP or one of his/her mates.
Im pretty certain thats whats probably happened...
Ive never heard of this "We did have two sir but one was given to personal and the other to business" Surely the dealer has a list of customers who want to purchase the car and if your a business customer or personal customer it makes no odds?

Mines due september. (No.2 at dealer) Must admit im in 2 mind if I should go ahead or not.
2 things swaying me.
1. I recently bought a late E92 Comp pack as stop gap when I found out the M2 wasn't coming until September. and I love it, not sure ill want to part with it so soon and dont have the space for both.
2. I love the look of the M2 with the carbon diffuser, boot lip, grills etc M performance suspension gives it the look it should have had standard (granted some lower springs would be cheaper) and I really think it needs an exhaust Akra or the M offering. So that lot adds a considerable chunk to the price. 6k maybe? Then it starts to look like an expensive car at 53-54k. I know I wouldnt be happy if I didnt have these.
Best option is probably to keep the order in and decide when it arrives if its a keeper. Dont think ill have any problem selling on.
Then theres manual or DCT??
It would seriously need to be very good to better a M3 V8 with the M sport exhaust. That engine was to die for. Had one for 2 years. DCR Auto aside which was pretty bad A.I. -wise it was a fantastic car. Interior a touch dated maybe but chassis and motor are not IMHO. 2 things swaying me.

I also have an M2 on order for October delivery and really not sure whether to keep it or not. Yes it's going to be nice... But just not sure it will be special enough. I will decide upon seeing the reviews of the new M3 comp package.
Isn't this exactly what Porsche dealers do for limited/restricted production models ? Happy to take deposits and "Letters-of-Intent" but ultimately the dealer principal just allocates cars to customers who are the most profitable for the dealership (as AOK rightly mentioned above).
Have a macan turbo slot with the dealer that supplied our diesel. I had a deposit down for a 981 Spyder for 6m before the salesman gave me the heads-up that allocations were discretionary and the sequence/queue had no bearing whatsoever. Got in touch with them recently, suggesting that I may just pull out of the turbo (despot the build slot being v soon) on grounds of disappointment with the lack of transparency. Would have felt better if they had just been up front about things from the outset.

Thank God we're not in the US where the dealers themselves mark up popular carsHave a macan turbo slot with the dealer that supplied our diesel. True.
Interestingly, in some regions there are stipulations in the sales contract that requires the first owner to keep the car for at least 6 months. Not sure how they police this, but wonder if it is to stop people buying rare models purely to flip for profit ?
That little clause is in the contract for my car, but only four months. When I picked up on it the salesman just told me to ignore it they don't care.Interestingly, in some regions there are stipulations in the sales contract that requires the first owner to keep the car for at least 6 months. It's pretty depressing really. If someone gets in first, pays a deposit and is willing to pay the price for the car, surely they should get the first car and so on?Have a macan turbo slot with the dealer that supplied our diesel. Agree. I can see why there needs to be some discipline, to prevent speculators hoovering up cars before any genuine petrolheads get to buy them. But the current practice has made me wonder why to bother buying another Porsche. Shame that BMW may be going down the same path. Let's hope not!rosino said:

I've just pulled my deposit from the dealer. They were very clear with me that I was a little late to the party and they had 3 cars for this year that were already allocated, and that 2017 was more likely, so I have no issue with their behaviour. Personally I find it very disappointing that BMW are artificially limiting numbers like this, none of the reviews mention anything of limited edition etc, but if you go to a dealer today you can not order or buy one. I left the deposit with them for a while to see if there were any developments, but I need to change cars soon. Shame as the M2 would have fitted the bill perfectly and I'm sure it will be a good car

In fact, most of the BMW blurb has been saying this is not a limited production car!!
Which maybe the case for the rest of the planet - but certainly not for the UK!!
It's certainly one of several reasons why I'm not even considering it to replace my 135i.

Not sure if the UK has been hard done by for numbers compared to other countries.
Anyone want my slot......10k overs??

I was told December delivery when I enquired last month and decided not to place an order. Got a call today telling me they had a car that was locked on spec but could be delivered in March. Seems like this is a fairly early date so I've jumped on it Cant wait!
Well done!I think this sums up buying a limited car these days - right place, right time.
I don't know your relationship with your dealer but it gives hope to everyone trying to get a car - keep trying and play the game. Get on the phone and visit your dealer, a bit like a business sales approach really.
