@breadvan thanks mate!

I'm not in the UK, I'm based in Spain. The dealer told me this was their only car, I guess the other guy pulled out. I'd imagine demand is nowhere near what it is back home, I don't have a long standing relationship with them, just a referral from a friend who bought another M car there recently.

Still, fairly sure this is a miracle. I am fully expecting the boat that the car is on to sink or some other tragedy to befall it - but yes its week 12 this year which means between March 21st and 28th. I wasn't able to change spec so I guess that means its built or is just about to be built?

Ah I think I butchered my Spanish to English translation of the options list smile

I believe the option is the connected drive package for the pro nav instead of the pro nav itself?

If I really end up being one of the first I'll make sure to take some pics/vids on collection day (thumbsup)

I'm second at my dealer and the estimated delivery date for my car is currently showing as week 47 (21st November). I hope that BMW ramp production a little so the dates come forward, just a couple of months would be nice whistle

I've just pulled my deposit from the dealer. They were very clear with me that I was a little late to the party and they had 3 cars for this year that were already allocated, and that 2017 was more likely, so I have no issue with their behaviour. Personally I find it very disappointing that BMW are artificially limiting numbers like this, none of the reviews mention anything of limited edition etc, but if you go to a dealer today you can not order or buy one. I left the deposit with them for a while to see if there were any developments, but I need to change cars soon. Shame as the M2 would have fitted the bill perfectly and I'm sure it will be a good car
Is this why I've tried calling my local dealer four times about ordering one and had to leave a message each time. Not a single call back to let me know the situation. Will be taking my custom elsewhere.

I would try a larger/different dealership. I ordered mine on Wednesday, I'm 7th or 8th on the list and are firmly stating a March 2017 delivery (which I am fine with). My local BMW dealer was quoting 2018, so I ordered from the next nearest town.

Yep, off to BMW Croydon I go. A shame because I live minutes away from BMW Cobham.

I very much doubt you'll get the car physically before 16th April which is the official world launch date, your dealer would be exposing themselves greatly otherwise.

Week 12 would be the quoted build week, which would put it about right for dealer delivery just in time for the 16th April smile

That makes sense! My dealer is adamant that they will have it with them in week 12, but I suspect someone dropped the very helpful sales lady on her head at some stage in the past. Either that or the Spanish to English thing isn't going as planned.

Hi guys, does anyone have a direct contact with a sales person who can get me an M2 for as near to March 2017 as possible, or at least someone I can discuss wait times with?

Just enquired with my Local Dealer (Swansea) and the dealer basically took the piss: When are you expecting first deliveries? No Idea. Do you have a Demo on order? Yes Number one on the list is the demo. When are you expecting your demo? No Idea. He then laughed at me for asking if a March 2017 delivery is a possibility despite being vague as fk when I asked him the question.

The kind dealer then went on to explain how a queuing system works i.e. if I put down £2k today, I will have a build slot (with no idea when to expect a car if you listen to him), but If I wait until tomorrow, I will be further down the line. He then told me if I waited to try the demo I probably wouldn't get my car until 2018, he knew a lot of stuff for someone who knew fk all, knob.

I bought my 1M from this dealer. Let's just say I will never buy a car from them again.

I came off the phone shocked, I felt like my money wasn't good enough confused

Luckily, Synter in Cardiff were miles better and the sales man there is pretty confident of getting me a build slot for March '17. I will have a day or two to think and then get my deposit in I think smile

I agree, we bought my wife's 1 series from Cardiff and they were very good. I bought my M5 from Newport and they were also very good. The Swansea dealer has lost a lot of business from me as I tend to change every 18 months or so.
I was tempted by an M2 myself but looking at the figures you can get an M4 or M5 for similar monthlies so I think that's where I'll go next.

Really! I normally find them good - Although I've only bought one car from them (JCW), I've subsequently found them good for servicing and M performance parts also.

I believe they are getting two M2's this year, both already sold / allocated to dealer principle.

What is swaying me is the strong residual values expected with the M2. The finance deal I seen was something like £7,500 down, £550 a month over 48 months and then £15k balloon at the end, I should imagine even with 30-40k miles on it the 2M should be worth £30k+ (Maybe even £35k+ If the 1M is anything to go by). The M3/M4 seems to be losing around £6k a year in depreciation which I can only see getting worse as more come on to the market, 4 year old M4 with similar mileage will probably be worth a fair chunk less than a similar age/mileage M2, despite costing a fair chunk more wobble

I do have a test drive booked in the new FRS week commencing 21st March but something tells me I will have committed to the BMW by then, Synter only want a £1k deposit for a place on the list too, If they could have guaranteed March delivery I probably would have paid it yesterday.

I agree residuals on the M2 are likely to hold-up better than on an M4 but not so sure they'll mirror what we've seen with the 1M? That was a limited run car and, while numbers of the M2 are going to be restricted, from what I understand it will remain part of the range for at least a couple of years (and if the demand's there who's to say BMW won't simply increase production a bit to cater for it?); having said that going back a few years I didn't see 1M values holding-up the way they have so I could be completely wrong about the M2 as well!! Ultimately, though, if you're spending £40k + on a car of that type surely you buy the one you want rather than the one you think might be the best investment?
