Sadly, due to being unemployed for two weeks, and the current state of the Banking Job market in London, I am going to have to try and get out of my contract, which is due to be delivered in the next week or so.

Spec is

Long Beach Blue
Manual
Sun protection package,
Split fold seats
Lumber
Seat Heating
H-k HiFi.

Whilst I hope the dealer won't have an issue refunding my deposit, if anyone on here would like me to pass on their contact details to take my place then it might make it easier. Obviously I cannot promise anything, but might be worth trying.

To say I am gutted is an understatement; I've had this on order since October last year. frown
Dealer is in London btw.
Cheers, Ben.
Hi Ben

They don't make them in dark blue.

To be fair the blue does look dark on a cloudy dull day. After seeing a few in blue I really dont like it.

Just for info, I ordered mine 12 months ago almost to the day and delivery is next Wednesday. I was never offered an earlier delivery or any cancelled orders. Meanwhile I have seen delivery mileage cars being offered for sale at premium prices by BMW dealerships which stinks in my opinion. Complained to BMW but they told me in a written reply they have no control over their dealerships. Lousy customer care.

I've just been offered a January Build slot, dependent on placing a £3k deposit today, and speccing it in the next few days.

Can anyone please offer some advice on the specs? I'm undecided between manual and auto (I drive a C63 at the moment, and do quite like the auto for driving in London), but will want the convenience technology and phone stuff, so professional nav, auto wipers, apple play etc)

I'm thinking of going for white with black wheels (matching the C63).

Anything to look out for, choose, or avoid? Is the servicing package sensible if I only do 3k miles per year?

Thanks for any thoughts.

Can't speak for any other items available in the M2 (I've only ever had an F10 M5) but don't waste your money on ApplePlay

The professional sat nag does exactly the same and ApplePlay offers nothing at all as far as I can see to the ICE package in a new BMW.

The professional sat nav and auto wipers/lights etc are standard - we added the £395 thing for enhanced bluetooth and wireless charging (complete rip off but annoying as hell not to have it). Folding mirrors for carparks, heated stuff for the wife plus the speed limit display.

If you're going to sell at some point (we're intending to keep it very long term) i'd spec the electric seats (we didn't need as we use the same position). Same for the service package as good for resale.

I wanted manual, but the wife will be driving each day so we went DCT - having driven in jams and slow traffic with hindsight it was the best choice for us. The torque is ridiculous so I think the manual is less important than in a NA car where you have to wring the engine and pick your gear carefully.

Thanks both of you.

I'll be selling my C63 to get it, which is a shame, it's only done 7,500 miles, and is immaculate, but I fancy a change.

I'm not sure at all if I'm making the right decision; there'll never be a car again with an engine like that 6.2L V8, I think.

In your position, i'd probably keep the Merc...

The deposit is placed now, so I probably won't back out. The Mercedes is a very special engine, but not a great sports car.

I do have an R8, too, which fills the sports car role pretty well, but thought that I might like a change.

Decision time, I suppose.

Just changed my C63 PPP for an M2 and I don't regret it. The only thing I miss is the V8, but as you say, the C63 isn't really a sports car.

No,m I absolutely love how it sounds, and goes in a straight line, but mine doesn't have the LSD, and so just doesn't do cornering fun how I'd like.

It's always a wrench when I sell cars, and I do few enough miles and look after them well enough that I know I'm losing value (you get very little extra for an immaculate 7,000 mile three year-old car over a slightly tatty 30,000 mile one, relative to how much you lose just because of the age), but it's just time to try something new.

Congrats on the purchase. The M2 is the best M car I have driven in a long time and hopefully my car will be ready in Q2 2017. I have a W204 C63 (with LSD) and find it very hard to think of changing that car for anything else after 2yrs ownership. It is a special car, every journey is an event. Will try and keep my C63 for family runs and the M2 for when I do not want passengers. Have you thought about ditching the R8 for the M2 and keeping the C63?

No, I won't sell the R8, and the C63 and M2 are just too similar for me to want to have those as my only two cars.

I may stick the C63 into storage, and decide what to do later in the year when (hopefully), I've an RS3 saloon coming.

Took delivery of my M2 on Tuesday, great car. Had the M235i previously and no matter what people say, the M2 is worth the additional money... especially if spirited driving is your thing. It doesn't immediately feel much quicker due to the DCT box being a little slower and unsure at parking speeds. There also seems to be much more travel in the throttle pedal, even in sport mode etc. But once you're going, it feels like a totally different ball game. Looks the business in the flesh, just gutted the weather has been miserable ever since picking it up. Bit of back story, I put an order in in October last year and got pushed off my allocation by HJ even though I was "first on the list" they then offered me a "demo" that suddenly appeared in Jan at 4k more expensive than my original order. Anyways in the end I went back to Williams (who i got the M235i off)around Jan/Feb and they had an allocation for the October build slot this year, bit of a wait but it's finally arrived!!
