It doesn't seem prices for the e36 m3 have (yet?) taken off as many predicted. I see a 1 owner, 62k miles, techno-violet, coupe sold for £9k at brooklands auction in Weybridge last wknd. Puts things into perspective.
And what condition was the car in? Was it mint to match the low mileage, low owners number as you allude to?JohnnyMac said:

I didn't see the car first hand, so can't comment. But a dealer nearby had the car advertised for £17,995 for c 2mths (presumably didn't sell so sent it to auction) and all seemed/sounded good. The car had the quirky alcantara/cloth interior, which will have put some off.
Incidentally, I think your car looks like a cracking example of a well cared for e36 m3.
Re valuation, price it wherever you wish. Realistically, an e36 m3 is not hugely niche, so I suspect the market is fairly efficient. If you price it too high, you won't get many/any calls. If you price it too cheaply, your phone will start ringing almost immediately (in which case you can always increase the asking price)

Well, just to close this thread out, the car is sold being picked up in a few days time. I didn't have to advertise it, I was contacted by a guy on another forum about the car when he knew I was considering selling it. I'm honestly sad to see it go.

Is the reverse to me & proof they have, a couple of years back I've bought similar for half that, the non dog & cheap e36 m isn't around now, so they have certainly been on the rise, sure no e30 or a Porker RS or classic Ferarri stratospheric rise, but still matching upward.iguana said:

I agree, my friend got a 26k mile car for £7k 8 years ago, back then I thought he needed his head examining paying that for an E36, where as now the same car would probably be worth double that Sorry if not clear - I was suggesting that some ppl were anticipating prices might significantly rise this year. But it doesn't seem that they have, yet. I don't deny prices might be different vs 8yrs ago.
Personally, I think e36 m3 looks like cracking value, for a modern classic. I certainly can't see prices falling much from here. It makes me wonder why these cars aren't more popular / prices firmer. Perhaps still a hangover from there being plenty of Chavved up examples in the recent past?
V interested to know what OP sold for - anyone care to guess!? I'd think gt2 (as I recall, purely a different colour scheme vs std) is worth 30% more than std EVO. So assuming 100k+ miles coupe EVO trades 6.5-7k, that'd get you to £9k max.
I'd hasten to add - only my opinion, and I could be way off the mark.

As I said I would not discuss the amount I received. What I will say is my car, while it's good, is not concourse but with around €1500-€2,000 spent it would look as good as most. Mechanically it's in very good condition. Despite this, what I will say is I did receive more than your maximum guess.Personally, I think e36 m3 looks like cracking value, for a modern classic. I'll leave it at that.
