Thanks for the info, kind of confirms what I'd thought/hoped.
Getting in and out isn't a problem, the Maser is fairly low and that is fine. The problem is the MR2 has thin bucket seats that are very low to the floor of the car. Because of the angle I end up with a cushion or rolled up towel behind the small of my back to give support, and I get cramp in my leg driving long distances due to the angle of my knee being too straight. The Z4 didn't seem as low to sit in, I assume the M is the same?
Cheers,

Z4 is one of the least elegant car's to get out of... especially for girlfriends wearing short skirts!
They also scrape over the smallest of speedbumps and are prob the worst car to buy if you live in town and drive such roads on a daily basis! I'd still love to trade my 3.0L in for a Z4M though. The 3.0L is already a pretty rapid car and with an extra (almost) 100hp must be an animal!

The Z4M sits a bit higher than non Ms in standard guise though, can't say I've ever had a problem with speedbumps in mine over 8 years driving in a city.dgm said:

Thanks to a couple of PHers down in deepest Devon and Cornwall, we are now on the lookout for a Z4M Coupe.
This is not as easy as it sounds. Partially because they are quite rare, and also because many sellers can't tell the difference between a cloth roof and a metal one
There seems to be a lot of 'Mis-Listed' Cars on PH and AT, drives me mad as makes it more difficult, also some of them are 'higher' Mileage. Some also seem to be priced a bit too high e.g. £25k?This is not as easy as it sounds. What colour inside/outside are you looking for?

There's 20 Z4M Coupes and 10 Roadsters listed on PH. Hardly the most difficult data mining exercise to go through all of them. Also you might get lucky if you find one which is listed in the wrong section as it might mean fewer people are looking at it!

Yeah - Maybe I'm a bit odd, but I'm just not sure I want to deal with someone who can't tell whether their car has a roof or not I did look at all Z4 and then sorted for over 3.1L, didn't throw anything else up.Also you might get lucky if you find one which is listed in the wrong section as it might mean fewer people are looking at it!

The Mrs fancies the blue one from Knights in Oxford, I quite like the look of the Sytner on in Coventry (the black one with the 2 tone seats). Definitely don't want a white one, probably not silver.
One problem with AT is the lack of location info - only distance. With a Private sale you need to get in touch just to find out where they are.
Just get on the phone to them Paul, its not a problem. Cars like this are not going to get a huge amount of traffic to the ad, so its hardly like they are going to be put out by the call.
Give them a bell, ask some questions!! One of the first things I always do is call the garage or owner and just see what they know about cars - if you click and they start reeling off chassis codes and engine numbers then you are quids in - if they start telling you about 0-60 times and how they overtook 12 cars in one go, then consider carefully!
As for Travel, I can never see why people complain about this when buying a car (im not digging at you here, just in general). The way I see it is as a % of the car value, i.e if you are spending 15k on a specialist car, then what is £60-100 on fuel to go buy it.... Dont compromise for the sake of a tank of fuel. Both of my last two cars were a fair way away, 120 and 150miles away - but it was the right car, so a tank of fuel was soon forgotten about.
Best of luck with your search, I think the likelihood of me getting a Z4M anytime soon is fading. IF it had 2 tiny seats in the back then it would be a goer, but I dont think I can get away with another 2 seater just yet with the arrival of babies soon....

Apologies for a thread hijack, seems the right place to ask - where do folk feel Z4 M values are heading?
I've always fancied one of these and as is the way with such matters, I've been offered to purchase a nice example at (what I think) is a good price and the only way I can justify it is if over circa 6-12 months I can run it for near zero cost (fuel, insurance and engine-failure risk aside).
It is a 57 plate in Black Sapphire with Black/Silverstone interior, 61k miles, navigation, heated seats, folding mirrors, sun protection glass, recent Insp2 service, vanos and tyres, full history, 6 (!!) owners, could be mine at circa £15k.
My reservations are:
1) Too high mileage to 'stick out' from the rest when I come to sell... I would add about 5,000?
2) Would becoming the 8th owner put off possible buyers?
3) Will it underwhelm me? I hear they are great and the idea would be to get a splatter of my raw T350t fun in something 'usable' enough to drive daily (which the T350t, despite best efforts, is not)
Thoughts?

Could have had it for £15k (ish).. must not regret anything in life, but... bugger!

Thanks for that Russ - We're not good at buying and selling cars, and not bought privately for years - always done a p/x as it was easier. With the limited numbers available here and the reputation that they're pretty robust anyway, it is probably time to think again.Give them a bell, ask some questions!! The last 2 cars I bought involved flying to Manchester, being collected from the airport, and driving back. They were both third cars, so nothing to sell.

Get yourself a Maserati coupe -they have 2 proper seats in the back If you want to buy one privately and the price is competitive you have to move fast. I got lucky and found a private sale car 3 hours after the ad went up. Even then I was the 2nd person to ask to view the car and when the first viewing fell through I made sure I got there within hours. I paid 16k for a 32K mile car with a pretty high spec and consider myself v lucky.
+1 on travelling and moving quickly. I picked mine up from the Z4 forum the day it went up on sale, checked all details over phone, agreed deal if as described, drove 150 miles, inspected, purchased and drove home! That was in Feb - hardly "high" season for roadsters. There are so few cars, that if priced correctly fly off the shelf. I missed out on one by 30 minutes and another by a day when I was looking. Private sales went almost immediately, whilst dealer cars seems to stick for a while.
Paul, you have probably found this already. But just incase you haven't. Check out. http://www.z4-forum.com/ It's the best Z4 forum on T net, by a very long way IMHO, often find cars for sale there too. Plus loads of helpful buying advise and knowledgeable friendly people.

One problem with AT is the lack of location info - only distance. With a Private sale you need to get in touch just to find out where they are.

I think I may have you beat. This time next week I'll be on a plane covering the 1,500 miles to collect my new one! There are around 40 for sale over here in Yankland. Although to say I'm massively excited for the drive back home to the West coast is an understatement. The nearest to me is 160 miles away.
