What's The F10 M5 Like To Live With Real-world ?

As do/are various Mercedes and Audis.
Really? I'm 99% sure with Audi & Merc like BMW it's a cost upgrade to get full leather (dash & doors etc.) I had it on my E60 M5 but again it was a cost option, but as i bought a Demonstrator it was fitted. As per the original quote, not many £60-70k new cars come with a full leather interior as standard & thinking out loud i'd hazard a guess that it's probably only the RR that ticks that box & they're not £60-70k even for the entry level.popeyewhite said:

Its not like its a cheap plastic/headlining etc, not sure how many other 70k cars do have a leather clad dash and 200mph capabilities ?
Porsches do. My current Cayenne and 997 have it as standard, as did my previous 996. They were all around £60-70k list price. You can see the ratio of full to extended is quite different for stateside vs RoW. If you're absolutely set on full leather + B&O etc you're more likely to find an LCI M6 with it (LCIs have full leather as standard).
I was really set on full leather having had 2 e60 m5s with it ( and my current 335d has it too ) but found one with B and O hi fi and piano trim . The grills on the B and O combined with the piano lift the interior enough to give it a nice feel.
It would be interesting to try a cp car and also ceramic brakes - never tried them .

My E63 AMG is all leather as standard. A colleague's new S8 is the same AFAIA.
Full leather is only standard on the S8+ which is a £100k car, it's a £6k option on the regular S8. I'm also not sure it's standard on the previous E63 (I've no idea on the standard spec of the new E63). Will of course be cars that have it but I'm sure it was an option.Edit to say the regular S8 does have leather on the upper door panels, but not covering the dash etc. as that's the £6k upgrade.

Don't know, mine's leather so maybe I've an option I didn't know about. Mate's S8 is a C6, so looks new!popeyewhite said:

My c63 certainly didn't? and my pals new rs4 doesn't (which is a very high spec ex demo, buckets, pano, carbon, lane assist, 20's etc etc) and paid same as i did for my new M5. You're not confusing the nice soft touch dash with leather are we, which is what the m5 has and does have leather door cards just not "full" leather as standard.Surprised at the Porsche 911's though having it as a standard item, am sure the ones i looked didn't.... (plus a new 911 variant with m5 performance is considerably more than 60-70k, in fact can you even get a base poverty spec 911 for 60k new? )
Edit, sorry replied to quote before i read rest of replies... think ill stand by what i said then

As above, it may 'look' like leather but isn't. To have the 'full' leather on Merc's & Audi's as well as BMW's it's a cost upgrade & an expensive one at that.As regards the S8, only the S8+ has the leather dash as standard, the non + doesn't & is a cost option. Audi A8's model definition is a D & the current is a D4, the C6 is the model definition for the A6 & that's an old model now as the current A6's are C7 & will soon be moving to C8.
Looking forward to my next car as that has leather as virtually standard everywhere, including the roof lining which should be quite novel.

Depreciating fast - no faster than any other expensive machine. Sure, buy a 991 GT3/RS and you're in the money. Some exotic machinery will depreciated slower than an M5 but buy a run of the mill 911 for £100k (you can't buy new one for the same cost as an M5 as I'm sure you know) and in three years it's worth £50k trade in. Buy an M5 for £80 and it's worth £40 trade in. I would guess it's no difference in % terms to most cars but the figures are simply higher.
IF you think in 3 years you will get £40K, your dreaming, more like £30K PX.Edited by HoHoHo on Sunday 19th July 08:00

Your knowledge of car upholstery is impressive though.

Nothing more exciting than that really, so has nothing to do with upholstery knowledge, just knowledge of the relevant vehicle sector.

I'd suggest saving a little money & drop the Multi-Function seats as having tried both i found they didn't offer any additional comfort & in fact for more rapid drives (especially on track) the standard seats are more supportive, however the MF seats do look more substantial if their visual appeal is important & for over sized drivers perhaps would offer more comfort.
Surround View is 100& needed as the car's bigger than it feels so a must have as far as i'm concerned.
I didn't bother with Split fold seats, but never needed them so that's down to what you'd perhaps use the car for.
Defo the HK upgrade as it's genuinely a great sound system & would make you question spending £6k on the B&O.
Wheels is a good one, but i chose against the 20" option & am very glad i did as the consensus appears to be that traction is quite a bit better with the 19"s, the ride is slightly improved & of course the tyres are a little cheaper. Also the standard 19"s look very similar to the E39 M5 wheels so personally i think suit the car better & lastly most F10 M5's have the 20" wheels which kind of makes the 19" wheel look like the option wheel.
DMS upgrade FTW

I have the standard seats & they are great - the MF seats look nice, but I have heard mixed reports.
HK upgrade is v good & wouldn't bother with B&O - I have 20's and they are fine - the only thing I would have changed is possibly to get the comp pack for a fruitier exhaust - but the standard system sets off neighbour's car alarms on a cold start already!
