Using Autocars results as relevant to us, as we're in the UK (never read the F10 doing 7.8 to a 100 although high 8's is more common) the differences is hardly anything and much more so after a 100:

I think you highlight the issue in your image post, 9.7 for the M6 vs. 9.0 for the M5, weather conditions play a huge part in Autocar's UK tests.

They wouldn't have tested to 205mph either.

The E60 M5 is 9.8 and the E63 M6 is 9.7 so that is very consistent with other publications. Or have you confused it with something else?
Its the F10 M5 that is 9.0

The M6 is the V10 engine in the above hence year of production 2005. Near identical to the E60 M5 so highly consistent.

I tested my 3rd F10 M5 today and the first one with comfort seats. I think the comfort seats look fantastic but (maybe just me) but I didn't find them anywhere near as bolstered or as supporting as the standard sport seats?!

I have written off a few good M5's because they didn't have comfort seats but now I might have to have a rethink or does anyone who's experienced both can advise whether it sounds like the one I tested might of been one of a bad batch maybe? Mind you the car had only done 9k miles so the seats looked almost new!
I cant remember what the standard sport seats felt like but ive got a 730d that's got the same comfort seats as the f10 and tbh ive not found them that comfortable. although its got quite a few adjustments I'm finding It hard to find a position that's comfortable and I'm not the only one that said this as my father found the sport seats in his e93 convertible more comfortable then these comfort seats so personally I wouldn't get hung up on the seats as a big thing
Yeah, I am leaning more and more towards the sport seats tbh. Just wish they looked as good as the comfort seats! But when you are sat in them it doesn't really matter I guess lol

I had standard seats in mine and travelled on some very long journeys throughout Europe without so much of an ache.

I certainly wouldn't rule out a car based on not having comfort seats nono

Much like a lot of you, also interested in purchasing a nearly new M5 as the prices look more attractive. In terms of reliability, does anyone have a link to a post on this or advise if they have used the warranty in their years of ownership?

During the 33000 miles I had mine from new I had a few minor niggles when it was delivered other than that it ran without any issues whatsoever.

2 years and 19k miles into ownership and the only issue I had was the car was delivered from new with the exhaust valves inoperable.

It took me a year to realise (although I always thought the car sounded quiet). BMW replaced the software and everything was as it should be.

Great cars - options are important, lots were ordered basic, later cars (when the deals were better) will be higher spec.

Mine has been round the Nurburgring and was very quick round there.

Mine hasn't skipped a beat either, apart from a b pillar trim rattle which was fixed under warranty.

I'm still struggling to get my B pillars sorted - dealer adamant there isn't a known issue or updated parts. Did you have the air vents swapped out by any chance?

Apart from that and a few other trim related niggles I'm at 51k miles and it really hasn't missed a beat - a fantastic machine.

Thanks for the feedback chaps - good to hear it's been relatively reliable thus far.

Previous one shat the HP fuel pump and exhaust manifolds at 23k miles. New one has the B pillar rattle and an odd creak from the dash.

I did indeed I got new vents fitted, the service guy told me that they were updated and had felt fitted to stop the rattle.

It drove me up the wall too!

Out of interest do you recall the manufacturing month for your car? Dealer says the part hasn't changed since my car was made (02/15) so wondering if it already has the revised part and its something else rattling. I said I'd just order and pay for two new vents myself if this doesn't resolve - it's been driving me mad for years - especially on the SW section of the M25.

Yes look on the VIN plate near the screen wash cap when you lift the bonnet.

Thanks a lot, I'm gonna go back to the dealer. If you're happy to PM me and disclose any detail of the job or just the dealer who did it, I'd be very grateful, as I feel mine is either fobbing me off or getting fobbed off themselves by BMW.

Reply I got from the dealer I got the work done by:

I went up and got the job card out to see what exactly we did

We replaced the air vents and air ducts behind them

51437325367 air duct

64227211888 & 887 was the part number for the grilles

Hope this helps

Good luck!
