Ok just seen your post on the other thread 1200 mile service, answered my question, thanks.
It's amazing, it took me about 6 or 7 months to land my B7 RS4 Avant as not many good ones to choose from being a much older car.
Been looking to buy an F10 M5 for roughly a month now and despite well over a 100 on sale each week on AT alone and more coming on sale all the time its quite difficult to find a car that ticks all my boxes. I really don't want to be waiting another 6 months or so for this car to turn up! (or am I just a fussy bugger?!)

Not fussy at all, it's important to find the the right car at the right price. I like the Monte Carlo blue and Silverstome. I can't stand tinted rear windows and my next car must have heated rear seats. Much prefer the option 20's wheels. I think I'd go for something that was loaded with as much extras as possible but with sensible mileage and LCI model.
I was lucky with my E60 it was the first one I went to see and it was perfect. I went all over the country looking for an E39 M5 and looked at about 10 only to go back and buy the first one after offering a grand less. The older I get I find changing cars ( used ones ) a bit of a pain so I tend to hang onto them a bit longer these days.

My sale has fallen through as the BMW Main Dealer said they could no longer offer the car I was interested in to me as it had the running in service done late. For this reason they say they cannot sell it as an AUC.
Did he state at what mileage the Running In Service was actually carried out ?

Haha yes that echo's my sentiments too. Older I get I am feeling the same. Yeah, I was very lucky with my E60 M5, it was the second one I saw but knew right away it was the one for me. I'm now looking for a CP with Comfort seats and surround view and Harmon Kardon as must have's oh and sub 20k miles. So far only seen 2 in my budget and one of them has just fallen through lol

There is an LCI Monte Carlo blue (with black leather though) at Berry Heathrow BMW. 20" alloys, HK, soft close doors, heated rear seats and steering wheel I think and a few more other options. 33k miles on the clock and its been up for awhile at £37k. Might be due to the mileage.
They offered to replace all 4 tyres, discs and pads all round and throw in a 2 year warranty if that's what it took for me to do the deal on it.

What spec are you after? I wrote an app that now has a fairly comprehensive database of all the BMW AUC cars as well as their historical price information, how long they've been for sale etc... Maybe I can help you out now I've bought mine and I'm not competing for the same cars smile

edit: doh just read your last post. I'll dig out my database later and have a look.

Ooo that sounds good, what's the app called? Any help be much appreciated!

Hope you're enjoying the car and it's everything you were expecting it to be and more!

That sounds a great deal, 2 year warranty, tyres and brakes, what put you off?

Warranty is a good haggling point as it costs BMW a lot less than the retail price. So you're 'saving' the renewal cost but the cost to the dealer is about 50% less so they should be happy to do it as part of negotiation.

Someone destroyed an engine in the first 1000 miles?

I would give that car a miss too, it's a bit like having a Cat D marker (OK not that bad), it's a cloud hanging over your head and you're going to have to explain it when you come to sell it. You might have issues with warranty claims too.
Even worse... engine was replaced with 200 miles on the clock...! and on top of that the running service was done late. Some people do themselves no favours. Real shame as the car was mint.
I can't imagine the first owner did anything wrong - an engine failure in the first 200 miles is surely down to a manufacturing fault.

It didn't have surround view or the comfort seats. Also mileage of 33k was higherthan I wanted.

But the dealer wanted me to at least try it and yes it was a lovely car but when spending anything between 35k & 45k I wanted all my must have's. I've since added CP as the difference to me was very noticeable in a good way.

I am in the same boat, been looking for the last 5 months for the right M5, budget just keeps going up as does the required spec!

Haven't driven a CP M5 yet, what differences did you find/like between the standard and the CP?

The CP feels slightly 'tighter' as the suspension is different. The diff is also more aggressive and the steering slightly quicker. After driving the CP car, I knew that was the car for me. The wheels have really grown on me too, initially I would have rather have the normal 20"s.

To me it felt more taut and the exhaust definitely sounded more fruity to me! Steering also felt a little sharper.
Love the standard car although now having tried the competition pack one, makes the standard one feel a little softer.
I think if you drive around a lot of bad surfaces the standard car in comfort mode will likely provide a more supple ride but the CP is only a little firmer in the same setting and something I would be fine with personally.

Defo try out both. I think I may still go with a non CP as long as it had a lot of options to make up for it not being a CP car but then I want my CP car to be fully loaded anyway! So like yourself, my budget just keeps on stretching! haha

I think that means non-cp was the right choice for me! I find the standard steering very quick already, it takes a level of concentration that I never had to give in other cars driving

What do we think the depreciation curve is going to be like on a 45k 15/16 plate car?

I find the CP car to be better damped than standard in all settings. It manages that 911 quality of being firm and supple at the same time. The steering is also tighter with more feel. You don't notice the extra power as the standard car is already so well endowed in this respect.

This was initally was my concern with the M5, but I just can't think of another car that I want more, so I will just have to accept the depreciation is going to be steep (as with any high powered, thirsty saloon car) and enjoy driving it and owning it. I try not to think about it to much.......ouch.

Going to have to test drive a CP one now! Thanks for the feedback.

Test drove a CP 15 plate today....

Beautiful car, however I don't think I can justify dumping 48k into one. I think I have been spoilt by my 911 turbo & and am expecting slightly too much of a 2 ton saloon, but it just didn't "feel" fast.

Second time I have been out in one & felt slightly underwhelmed, undoubtedly it is a very quick car, just not sure if I'm looking in the wrong place for a speed fix?

Current fleet is a 911/996 turbo tuned to 620+Bhp, a 550Bhp supercharged E46M3 & a remapped E60 535d. Plan was to sell the E46 & E60 to put both running costs into one car, and keep the 911 as the fun car, with the M5 as a daily.

Confused now, really wanted to love it, but heart wasn't palpitating during the test drive.
