What's The F10 M5 Like To Live With Real-world ?

My average is 18, better than 14ish in the E60??
I averaged 16mpg in a C5 RS6 with a 5 speed box which didn't go into 5th until 50 or actually 60mph so holding higher revs than it needed to for most of the time (which was the norm for a std car. I believe some people remapped be gearbox to allow higher gear change up for lower speeds). As such I find this surprising mpg from the F10 with much more gears stop start and probably 20years engine development ahead.
Unless of course it's driving style.

28.5mpg is a lie
Love the car already.
Do these cars do anything like the mpg BMW quote of is it all BS. Love the car already.

If you can't achieve 28+ when trying on mundane 70-80mph cruises then you need to assess your eco-driving brain.
I average 18/19 but a lot of town driving and heavy throttle.
Not sure there is anything more economic with 600+bhp and 2 tons... ? (Tesla not included)
XK-r dynamic is good on mpgI average 18/19 but a lot of town driving and heavy throttle.

E63 hot v BI Turbo too
How about the A8 4.2 V8 TDI these are what 440bhp standard easily tuneable upwards not sure 600mbhp but would be a good rate I'd wager that will be superior on mpg but not so on noise.

The other two you mentioned will be similar to the M5.

The current A8 4.2 TDI is 380bhp so not sure where you got 440bhp from (is this a new model on the horizon?)
The other two you mentioned will be similar to the M5.
395bhp from the new G30 540d The other two you mentioned will be similar to the M5.
The old one was 375bhp and mapped to >440bhp so all else being equal tho will be a 460+ remapped unit with 4x4... a weapon.

Now the new G30 540d xdrive which happens to be 313bhp! so well off the 395bhp you say.
The M550d X drive that we never got over here last time, was 375bhp and the new one based on the G30 will now have 395bhp.
So, any cars circa 600hp cars you can suggest that are much better on mpg? nah, didn't think so!

313bhp is the 335d car & F10 535d car (actually isn't the last F10 535d 320bhp..?).
The current LHD F10 M550d is 375bhp.

I don't think there's much you can to do avoid the fact that driven like-for-like, the M5 will cost near enough twice as much to fuel as an equivalent sized diesel. For people who buy them, it's clearly an acceptable price to pay and they won't be motivated by the fact that 'it can do 30mpg at a push'. There are occasions when I feel I'd be better off in a 740d e.g. when I've been filling the M5 three times a week just to blast up and down motorways, but generally I'm delighted with it and don't give a second thought to fuel consumption. If it were doing low-mid teens consistently and/or had a smaller tank like the E60 then the limited range would detract from its practical use as a high mileage daily though.

Yeah am sure a few are on same level but doubt there much better or better at all, and probably claim silly high mpg figures too.E63 hot v BI Turbo too

The F10 is a 70ltr fuel tank for the range is the M5 different? or is it simply that it is more economical. [quot:De=Welshbeef]
Can add. .. wrongly quoting people as well now! Wills2 said:
I find it best to ignore his numbers, they're just made up off the cuff.
Except when zinster thinks the F10 M550d is a 313bhp unit and not 375bhp. Read up again and I've clearly said the F10 M550d was 375bhp! Lol
