'Delivery miles' on an F10 M5
Discussion
I collected my new F10 M5 a couple of weeks ago. I first saw it in the dealers showroom with 6 miles on the clock. I asked for a test drive in a M5 before I considered a purchase which they arranged. I turned up at the dealership for the test drive and the actual car was outside waiting for me. A quick 4 mile test and back to the dealership and paid my deposit for collection the following week with now 11 miles on the clock.
I think this reasonable, although if I hadn't bought it, someone else would have done so not knowing it had been driven on a test drive. I'd be OK with that some others may not.

Only thing I'd be concerned about is if it's meant to be immediately ran in for first 40 miles by full load throttle and engine braking up to 5k rpm? If it's already got 40 on then that procedure is irrelevant....
Very valid point, the first HOT 40/50 miles are very important in ring sealing. PS) 8 miles on my M5 and 5 on my M6, more than 10 and concern.
Can't recall what mine had but i think it was 12ish. Under 20 i'd not be bothered in the slightest.
Initial road test at the dealers i'd expect to be 3-5 miles, drive from ship to transporter could be anything from a few hundred yards to a couple of miles, a few miles in Germany & a couple of extra for good measure so 10-20.
Enjoy the new car.

When a new bmw arrives at the dealership it will have say 5 miles on.
The dealership has the one time only chance to zero the clock as long as the mileage is less that 50. his used to be the case in the late '90's
Many customers expect to see 0 miles believe it or not
I bought a skoda recently (for the wife) and saved 8k on list - it had 20 miles on and pre reg

What's the consensus on how many miles is reasonable to have on my new M5 when I collect it on Saturday?
How many miles can they really rack up, rolling it around the yard and on and off trailers/trucks?
Hey! Today's the big day. Enjoy. And let us know how many there are. I'm guessing seven. How many miles can they really rack up, rolling it around the yard and on and off trailers/trucks?

You might want to stop driving it if your at 1600. At a certain point you will void the warranty, not sure what it is but your getting mighty close if you're not already over it (1500 comes to mind)!!
If that is true I'm going to be extremely furious as this hasn't been explained to me and the sales team knew I was going to be using the car as daily driver amdni do a lot of miles. I'm pretty annoyed that they didn't book me in for a running in service immediately or at least recommend I book it in straight away. They should know how busy their service department is.
