A mates up for some fun at Shakies raceway next month and will be bringing his Z06 Vette along. He has a pipe on it and will likely have played with the mapping himself (geek like) so how do we think my mapped M6 will cope against it? Big difference in weight between the two.

C6 or C5?

My C6 was quicker than a friends (standard) e60 m5 at most speeds. Figures don't suggest a huge gap but on the road it's noticeable.

Drag racing is more about driver than car as a rule. And as others have said, what Corvette? C5 z06's have gone mid 12's @ 112mph stock. C6 z06's even faster.

From:

A group of local 6speedonliners rented MIR today for a little get together to take advantage of this awesome weather and several guys ran the best ever runs as the track was like Fly Paper and the Air Conditioning was on high!(40 degrees). My goal when I went out today was to try and beat the Pure stock stock tire record which I was able to do! I usually take a couple of cars and I felt it was hampering my driving one to perfection so I only took the Z06 so I could really drive it to its fullest! My Second pass of the day was a 11.08 at 128 followed in order with a 11.11 at 128, 11.02 at 129 and a 10.98 at 129 on the Factory issued Fun Flat tires. I believe this is the first ever 10 sec. run with a bone stock car on the bone stock tires? As the track was hooking so hard I was hesitant to try my drag radials as I was having no issues with traction, (just my technique) but I was actually hot lapping the car to get a feel for my leaves as it was so cold engine temp was not an issue. After I got the (Stock Tire) timeslip validated with a signature from the MIR track owner I put on my drag radials and tried for my best time! Initally I wasn't running any better than with the stock tires because the DR's were cold, but once they came up to temperature they started to make a difference as I was able to run a 10.96 at 130, a 10.92 at 129 and finally a 10.83 at 130 mph! which I believe was caught on video and will posted tonight on UTube. If some one would help me post my time slips I would appreciate it so I can move from 3rd place on the fast list to the top!

La Ferrari is just a 9 sec car...... M6 is not, even mapped.

My mistake, the figure is 10.5 or should say was on this run validated by box. That is a very fast time

What he saidsmile

With better tyres such as Cup 2's i'm confident a 10.2-3 is possible in the M6 as the 10.5 is for an F10 M5 on standard MPSS tyres & the M6 is a touch lighter/better aero.

10.5... really..? Its quick but that quick. Off to have the LC setup by DMS this afternoon so will try a few starts with that and see what it feels like if the roads here dry out a little.

S800, was your Monaro 800hp? I assume a blunt tool compared to the finesse of the M6?

Nice one, will be interesting to get your feedback? Not yet used LC on mine, but fully intend to at some point.

LOL. Long story some time ago but it was suppose to be 800hp having blown it up at 635. The tuner screwed it up and I sold it on. My last VXr8 was about 650 and yes both characterful cars but archaic compared to the M6.
Got the LC working, it's not the easiest thing to get up is it!! Can't seem to adjust the launch revs with any buttons and we tried them all but it's already violent launching at 3k! smile

Supposed tone the cruise control wheel that adjusts the revs for LC.

Edit : "to be" not "tone", fat fingers and auto correct!
