Well, my Tesco quote was a little higher...

Perhaps they didn't like the idea of your father being a named driver?

Another vote for Tesco, somehow my M5 is cheaper to insure than the 640d I had previously

That insurance quote was just me! The horror.

Still facing a complete lack of communication from the dealer regarding the status of my car, I called today at 15:20 and asked for an update. Was promised a call straight back.

I called again at 15:50 and was promised a call back before close of business at 16:00.

Got a call at 16:15 to tell me that the computer link to the order tracking system cuts out at 16:00 so my order can't properly be tracked. But the last information they got was that it should arrive in week 40 (September 28th). The original delivery date was supposed to be week 36 (August 31st)

My question is, what comeback do I have about this or what can be done? I've had a holiday planned for this Friday with the new car and this going to completely ruin it...

The car was ordered in the last week of June. Pretty irritated; mostly at the total lack of updates.

Ask BMW to lend you an M car. Though, I wouldn't be overly confident that you'll receive a result by Friday (unless you kick up an almighty stink in person at the dealership).

That may have changed. My renewal came in & has gone up from £330 to £480 so they can now do one & the best i can get from the Meerkats is £430 so the car must have increased in desirability/historic claims as nothing else has changed to my profile.

Oddly enough Tesco as a new customer via comparison sites didn't even show up, so cheapest last year, nowhere this yearfrown

Snotty call complaining of a lack of info has resulted in being offered an X5 "if there's a demo one available" - asked to simply take a second hand M5 they've got in the forecourt but was told they can't lend out second hand cars because there's no tax on them.

I tried the meerkats and like you Tesco did not quote. It was when I rang them to cancel the policy that they gave me the cheaper quote

They did offer to lower their renewal figure, but still adrift by over £50 so will yet again go with the cheapest this year as although i'd kind of rather stay with Tesco, i'm sure they're no better/worse than More Than so i'll save the pennies & switch to them.

I take delivery of a new F10 M5 on Saturday morning. Ordered it in July and managed to get a build slot for a car that another dealer had ordered for demo/stock.

Silverstone II with Sakhir Orange leather, sun pro glass but otherwise pretty much a standard car.

Am trading in a 6 month old A45 AMG (which I thought I'd like more than I do). I hadn't figured on being able to afford to change after such a short space of time and little equity in the Merc but the guy at the BMW dealer is a friend of a friend and offered me a deal that was too good to refuse and is barely costing me more than the Merc does.

It's the first M car I will have owned though we recently bought a 330d M Sport+ touring as a family wagon and I've been hugely impressed with that.

Looking forward to Saturday now....

Exciting, same colour combo as mine.

I have had a little whinge at BMW and mine has been brought forward to the 15th from the 29th... So will be about 10 week lead time.

But the dealer originally said the 8th so if it's not here by then they will give me a loan car....

I was thinking last night if there was an option to collect from Germany ?? That would make it extra special... Am sure AMG used to do this?

I asked about the collection from German thing and was told it was unavailable, as the local dealer had to set the car up etc.

I really agonised over the colour choice and changed my mind twice - was torn between this and Space Grey as I like metallic grey cars, but thought it might look too dull.

MCB looks great but our 330d is in Estoril Blue so would be too similar.

Hoping that Silverstone shows off all the sexy creases in the bodywork!

I find it crazy that the yanks get this option but we don't. They pick the car up in Munich, drive around Germany, take lots of photos to post on forums and then drop it off somewhere for shipping! I'd have loved to collect mine over there and bring it home - it would be cheaper too!

Great stuff, get some pics up and let me know how handover goes...!

I was thinking last night that the fuel they'll chuck in when they Pdi the car will prob be normal 95ron won't it??? I'd be wanting to run it in v power .
Think I'm worrying too much

What an utterly excellent car. Well worth the wait. They put 1/4 tank of fuel in her, topped up immediately with V-Power at eye-watering motorway service station prices.

Put 500 miles on the clock yesterday (and no doubt £5,000 off the value) but had a total blast!

One question - I have the powered boot lid And comfort access options. Should I be able to open the boot by kicking under the number plate? The salesman at handover said "uh, I don't think it's standard" when I tried...

Fantastic! 500 miles good effort.

Easy enough to stay under the 5000rpm then?

Looks great with the contrasting sakhir interior.

At this rate you'll need the running in service booked for Tuesday
