Cheap bds, you pay for a full tank in the OTR price.

I would be asking for my £80 back.

Figured out the boot. Grazed my shin in the process!

Had a horrible feeling that the interior may have been "too much". It's not, I think it's perfect. Stylish and fun.

V nice & snap... Picked up mine in the same colour yesterday!

Only manager 120m so far.

Re the comfort access & opening the boot, make sure you are a step or so away from the car (too close it won't work) then waggle a foot under the right hand side of the number plate... Takes a bit of practice & balance!

Damned right! Figured it out while a bunch of us were stood around in my garage yesterday admiring the colour and the boot kept opening as if by itself...

Didn't realise how nice the SG looked - flecks of blue in the right light, very classy.

Might have accidentally used kickdown a few times, hope it won't upset it too much before the 1200 mile service, which is booked for next week...

Think I'll be using manual mainly to avoid the kickdowns.
Also a bit of engine braking to seal in rings?!? At least for first few miles.....

If you are at full throttle and change down manually it will select the lowest gear possible, in theory you could jump from 7th to 2nd in one go.

Definitely, will reduce oil consumption and increase power for the life of the engine.

Good info! I thought it was only if your WOT and hold down the paddle to change down...

Manual mode/WOT (past the kick down point)/one pull on the left paddle = lowest gear.

After much faffing I have found this the best setting for general everyday "but making progress" driving:

Steering = sport+
Throttle = sport+
Dampers = sport
Gearbox = D2
TC = on

I have that on M1 and everything to 11 and manual on M2.

Is there a noticeable difference between the settings??

And as for the gearbox change speed surely you always want it on the quickest or is that very jerky??

I would say there is very noticeable difference (which is a good thing) I have it in D2 as I can use the torque and the long legs rather than it snapping down too many gears or holding them for too long, D1 is too slow it goes to sleep on you.

What an utterly excellent car. Well worth the wait. They put 1/4 tank of fuel in her, topped up immediately with V-Power at eye-watering motorway service station prices.

Put 500 miles on the clock yesterday (and no doubt £5,000 off the value) but had a total blast!

One question - I have the powered boot lid And comfort access options. Should I be able to open the boot by kicking under the number plate? The salesman at handover said "uh, I don't think it's standard" when I tried...

Looks stunning. Enjoy.

Foot opening for the boot is part of the Comfort Access package, so unless you opted for that along with Auto Bootlid then no you haven't got that function. What you may not know as stupidly i didn't, you can close the boot from the remote by holding the boot close button down. I tried this a few times by just pressing the bottom so initially assumed it wasn't possible, but then for some random reason i held the button down for a couple of seconds & the boot starts to close, but you need to keep it held down until the boot's fully shut.

People saying about the full tank of fuel, do you have any proof of this?
I'm picking mine up tomorrow and they said they only have an allowance of £25 from BMW.

I only got £50 when I picked up my M6 in 2013. At £1.32 per litre at the time, it didn't really last very long either!
