For those better initiated than I can you enlighten me as to the differences between the standard electric sports seats in an M5/6 and the M Mutli-functional seats (I know these are now standard)?

For those that have experienced them would you say the difference is marginal so not missing out on anything or substantial and thus a must have or worth considering?

Thanks

The M-Multi seats are nice but not worth the cost as far as i'm concerned. My issue is they're less like Sports seats & more like armchairs which would be fine in a 7-Series, but i think look out of place in an M. I opted for the standard seat & they're as infinitely adjustable as the M-Multi seat & also have memory, but the M-Multi seat is a lot deeper in the base & back so also reduces rear legroom a little.

Looks wise if that's important, the option seats do look really nice due to them being more substantial, so if that's your thing then they're possibly worth the cost. I've not driven a car fitted with the M-Multi seat so can't comment on how comfortable they are on a journey, but i noticed no difference in comfort when purely sat in them & the standard seat is amazing comfortable on long journeys which is most of the work my car does, also very supportive on track.

I think the best solution is to try both out for yourself, I'm a huge fan of them for the looks, deeper bolsters and the split back rest, for me they really lift what is a pretty standard cabin.

But the standard sports seats are fine as well + they will be lighter and give more rear leg room.

Thanks for the replies very helpful, the fog is clearing.

From what I see I guess it mainly comes down to looks as opposed to functionality and thus will be personal preference, posting the two contrasting pics makes the difference very obvious so thanks for that.

I agree with you both in that the M Multifunctional seats are very nice and adds to the cabin environment.

I think if a car came along that ticked all (or most) my boxes I would not let it be a deal killer but now I understand the difference I have to say they are nice. This is a similar debate to the full or extended leather, the former really adds to the cabin but is it worth it(or was it when at £5,995 as an option)?

I do find myself bypassing the non full leather AUC's even if the rest of the car matches up, I have a feeling I will be looking for both but at least I am no longer confused so thanks for taking time out to enlighten me.

After hmming and haaing, I chose to go with the standard seats even though they definitely don't look as good. All I need to say is that I've driven 800 miles in one go, only stopping for fifteen minutes for petrol and a pee, and got out the other end feeling absolutely fine. So the multi-function seats surely can't be better in terms of comfort that but I'd probably still choose them if I was you as they do make the cabin look much better.

There is a half way house on the leather front, cars with individual extended leather have the lower part of the dash/centre console/seat backs/door inserts in leather, whereas the standard leather doesn't, above that is the full leather.
