Just picked mine up last weekend. An 02' titanium silver / black leather manual with 102,000 FBMWSH with optional 19". (Pending a Redish inspection this coming week) It's pretty immaculate. Checked out the rear subframe before purchase and it looks to be good (surprisingly) but budgeted for this to be done at some point. It's standard and I paid around 7.5k. I got in touch with the previous owner and he gave closer to 6k for it around 3 years ago. Sounds like appreciation to me smile

It's hard to value looking at the classifieds but tbh I couldn't find a similar spec for less that 9k, I think I got a very good deal and won't be letting it go for a long time. It's true that low mileage examples really do seem to command strong money right now; or at least ask strong money

I've also been watching the prices for a while and as has been said they're all over the place. Bottom of the barrel cars at 6k while the chancers are placing ads for cars with 50k on the clock up at 16k - I'd suggest that one will be for sale for a while.

To get into a nice 04/05 spec car woth lo wish mileage I'd be budgeting around 13k as there are still too many on the market to warrant paying any more.

As has been said, the price of the E46 will drop when the E90 and F80 drop in price.

Anyone who has £15,000 in their back pocket and is looking for a non classic M3 will always go for the newer car.

The E46 needs alot more cars written off or broken for parts before the prices will start to go up, hence the E36 price rise

And yes, they have risen.

My phone went weird before I could finish that post.

Individual car
New tyres
Genuine csl's
Eisenmann exhaust
105k

I don't think £12k is unreasonable at the moment from what else I've seen.

CS values in manual spec are the ones to look out for.

V8s will continue to drop like a stone whilst the decent e46 versions will continue to rise.

Absolutely... and I think it's only the beginning, there's fewer and fewer good original spec sensible milage examples around...

But I may be a little bias...

Disagree. The E46 is becoming viewed, rightly or wrongly, as a classic. I've just bought an E46 for £15K and did not consider the later models.

I find the E46 and all the later M cars sorely lacking in feel and are simply way too heavy. Consequently they are not really fun weekend cars anymore but more everyday family transport.

For that reason I would get a later saloon over the impractical E46 any day.

I suppose everybody is buying different cars for different purposes to fit in with different collections of cars. I have other cars for weekend hooning around but was after a £15K fast fun everyday runabout….and the E46 M3 fitted the bill.
