Fortunately I think I know where it's coming from, but can any of you guys let me know if it's a quick fix? Thanks very much.

The oil is leaking from the black hose being secured down by the raised nut. I'm assuming (hoping) that it's a quick fix. The garage I use doesn't open until Monday.

It's called a banjo fitting. Usually there's some kind of copper washer on either side of the banjo

For an example:

Go to your local auto factor and you should be able to get some and do it yourself, that's if it's the fitting leaking and not the hose.

Or from the cam cover, not uncommon.

Thanks for the quick responses, a little bit of research has shown that it could well be the vanos oil line, and the banjo fitting which has already been mentioned. I only ran the car for a few seconds to see if I could source the leak, and it is seriously pissing out all over the engine bay, with a load of oil slopping around in the drip tray (I did a short 5 minute journey prior to realising it was leaking). Will probably have to flat bed it to the garage.

Once again, thanks.

Certainly nothing untoward, what should I be looking for? I can't start her at the moment as it literally sprays oil all over the place.

A rattle or a whining sound like this

Could be a sign your VANOS is on the way out.

An engine oil leak could be the oil seals have gone; the VANOS is kaput, a hole somewhere in the block etc.

You need it on the ramps for a proper diagnosis.
