At some point in the next few weeks you'll have a 'wow' journey. Mine came when I received an unexpected panicked phone call from a relative telling me that I urgently needed to make my way to a hospital 50 miles away (the majority down country lanes). The sat nav told me I was 1h15m away. My wife and I arrived less than 45 minutes after the phone call. Thankfully traffic had been light, but the sheer capability and sheer grunt of the car had made safe overtaking very easy even on the shortest of stretches.
This is very true, I took mine out for a late night blast yesterday evening and although it was damp and I'm having to keep it under 5.5k revs, there were definitely some wow moments. Epic car.

However I am disapointed with the tt who parked his car so close to mine last night outside a pub near Derby on the day of my best mates funeral that he managed to run his red bumper right down both doors denting and adding paint I really don't want and then fked off frown

The car is great, some members of the human race need putting down.
Really sorry to hear that - what a complete pain. Hope it's sorted soon.

Probably the green eye monster brigade. Pick your body shop very carefully, otherwise things can become even worse.
All the best.

Thanks and I'm sure it will - throw some money at it and as if by magic it's back to its old self.

Gutted as the car is (read was) mint frown

I've had Touring 535d's - finally decided that enough was enough of derv, sparked really by my 6 year old daughter repeatedly telling me that the car sounds like a tractor & must be broken.

I've had the M5 for 3 weeks and limited to 5.5k - it is brilliant ! Love the engine sounds (especially in Hindhead Tunnel), it feels very alive and needs smooth inputs - especially in traffic & parking (needing small blips for parallel parking). It is wider than the F11 535d and I avoid 6'6 width restrictions like the plague.

I use comfort settings for town driving - and set M1/M2 presets with combinations of Sport & Sport+, but steering always on comfort - as the other settings feels too artificial.

Off the line and in-gear acceleration is monstrous and I have to drive using the speed limiter, otherwise my license would last a day. It may be a Q-car, but the other evening (driving @45mph in a 50),a traffic unit came after me with lights on, seemingly just to look at the car!? So I am going carefully !

Just got back from a 400 mile round trip, the way the f10 accelerates from 70mph is obscene! It feels like the rear axle is going to be spat out of the back....mighty, mighty car....

I n all the time I had my LCI M5 (12K miles) no one even payed it a glance, they thought in was just a 5 series in most cases.

Think the 20" wheels and colour are what grabs the attention

I think that depends on where you live

Up here I only know of 2 other m5's and only seen one once on the road.

I definately seem to get noticed in the few miles I've drove, but imagine driving through alderly edge no one would look twice ..

I didn't expect the M5 to get any attention but it's had more attention than any other car I've owned, people have stopped me at the petrol pumps to ask about it, knowing nods and thumbs from other drivers etc...

Which I've been surprised at tbh, although it's been lowered by 20mm with 12mm spacers and black gloss side and front grills added so looks pretty mean.

I've ordered the carbon diffuser as well and a new exhaust to give the rear this look:

So it won't be mistaken for a 520d anytime soon....

I have had mine 3.5 years now. Its off on the 28th. I had a massive engine issue in first 18 months that was a pain but its been perfect since. Sad to see it go.

I chose Singapore grey specifically so that it was less likely to get noticed. That plan didn't work.

I've had one guy nearly fall out of the car he was passenger in while travelling along the motorway, so busy was he giving me the thumbs up.

Last month we nearly had a security incident at my work due to an old guy letting himself into the carpark just to have a nose at the car.

It's not a point-and-stare car (possibly for the exception of teenaged lads), but it does receive more than its fair share of attention.

Mine has had no attention at all but the spec is very discreet - except in Belgium and Germany where at every fuel stop somebody came over. They seem to be universally revered over there.

Cracking pics.

I have just driven my M5 down to Frankfurt this week. A few hundred miles driven on the autobahn were epic - cruising at a speed not feasible in the UK.

There was a stretch of autobahn with bits of roadworks every 5-10kms. Accelerating hard from these starting at 80kmh each time was something I could do all day, especially as it was possible to get well beyond 200kmh regularly.

This trip has shown another aspect of the cars huge all-round ability.

Looking forward to the return trip early next week.

I came across a guy in a very fast moving 993 on the M5 in Somerset this evening. For a few minutes it felt very reminiscent of the autobahn.

I did a trip to Berlin and back in June and I'll never forget it - one of those drives which could only have been more epic if derestrictor was in the passenger seat commentating.

Just back from an epic 3 days on track in mine (2 at Spa & 1 at Jules Tacheny).

Car was quicker round Spa by over 4 seconds this year than last & that was in far worse weather conditions (snowed for most of the 1st day). Managed a 3min 1sec as my best lap & that was with some traffic, along with a top speed (GPS) down Kemmel of 160mph.
