That's a fairly good appraisal smile

It's an astonishingly capable fast long distance cruiser as I can attest also. If somebody told me I had to get somewhere 250 miles away ASAP on mixed roads, I don't think there's a much better tool for the job.

Thanks for the comments although following my 24 hour test drive I've decided to go for the m4 coupe over the m5. Quite simply I don't possess the self control to own an m5. 250 miles covered average 14.8 mpg and average speed 67.8 including numerous town centres!
The car was astonishingly fast but my issue is its pretty boring up to 70mph just felt massive and heavy, then at 70 changing into 3rd it seems to have some kind of intergalactic hyperdrive warp mode. I mean seriously seriously impressive but I know for sure if I owned that car I'd be doing prison speeds every day, multiple times.
I have 2 kids and need my license. I'll be sensible and go for an m4 fully loaded with mperformance Carbon aero kit.
Much more sensible. Hats of to you lot, either for your self control or evasive abilities.
That's 250 miles I shall treasure forever!
I went LCI M3 from M5 and M6 GC CP, car is as fast to 100 MPH no problem and that's all you really need here IMO.
The car has as much room inside is much lighter and from 0-60 quicker than M5 and M6, job done.

The sakhir orange inside and out is the new phoenix yellow / kiwi interior combo. Very very marmite.

Indeed, what was really gruesome in E46 times was Laguna Seca Blue with Kiwi or Phoenix Yellow with Laguna Seca interior, saw both these combinations, couldn't believe anyone would actually choose them!

I had Phoenix/ Kiwi, thought it was fab!!

I've had my m5 a month now, and it's black exterior, black interior, and factory tint. I love it, at the end of the day, you buy a car for you, go with what you like smile
Saying that, I sat in an m4 with sakhir interior, looked more like a light red at the time, I wasn't keen at all, wasn't nice like the old imola red leather, which imo was lovely.

Not sure i'd agree with the M3 being as fast to 60 or 100 than the M5, unless it has considerably more grip which i doubt. Real world however i agree, probably not much in it but stock M5's can comfortably hit 62 in 4.0/4.1 & the delta to 100 would carry on favouring the M5.

Do they really have as much room inside as although i've not spent time with an M3, it seemed considerably less roomy than the 5, especially in the back.

Room is fine and 4 poeple can be comfortable, I would drive one and see just how quick they are , you will be surprised I think.
My M6 GC CP would be NO faster to 60 MPH for sure and about the same to 100, then M6 gone.

But even on paper their's enough of a gap that in the real world the difference would no doubt be bigger. I will try to get out in one in the New Year as can see the draw, but i'm probably not the right demographic for an M3/4 nowadays.
