Everyone appeared more than happy with the day & their respective outcomes, but i'll let those who had work done comment on their thoughts.

I haven't driven far enough to provide much feedback at this stage - but it is clear even in 20-30 miles that the nature of the car's power delivery has changed rather considerably - what is astonishing is the combination of savage mid-range grunt delivered absolutely effortlessly. I haven't gone near the redline yet but I can only imagine its rather manic. My own car turned in 629bhp stock and 751bhp mapped on the dyno.

It was a long day in all, but the guys at DMS couldn't have done a better job of looking after us all - they were brilliant.

Neil, was yours the top figure of the day?

Mine was 571hp to 725bhp. It's just awesome, the EVO magazine description says it all. "Unhinged" is the perfect description of the top end now.

+1 DMS were great, really looked after us and the product is just fantastic.

Great to meet you all, and thanks to Paul for sorting it....

That's quite a difference between the 2 cars prior to mapping - is that a typical spread ? c60 bhp seems a lot for 2 theoretically identical cars cars . Post remap sounds awesome .

My car has only done 1400 miles, so they though it might still be "tight" and explain the 571bhp.

But another M5 on 3500miles was 619 stock.

Although both were 725/730 when mapped.

Highest was a bosses 25K example on 629/751.

There was quite a wide spread indeed, but there also appeared to be a correlation between output and mileage with the lowest mileage car (barely run in) putting out the lowest figure, the highest mileage car (mine) giving the highest readings, and the ones inbetween with circa 4k miles were more consistent at 610-620bhp stock.

Based on this it would seem it takes a few thousand miles for them to loosen up somewhat, and then a more marginal increase as the mileage is piled on.

Anecdotally Rob from DMS also observed that his car 'felt' like it was improving with mileage at circa 30k. Mine is at 25k.

Need to start saving up for the akra system now...

The S63 must improve with age, a bit like a good wine wink

I shall enjoy mine while it matures!

In 6 months I'll pop into to SVM (local to me) and get a power run there to see how things are.

We should also give a mention to the non-M car of the group - my brother had his F31 335xd touring mapped. His dyno reading was 380bhp and about 540 ft.lb but winter tyres on the car were a reducing factor. He's also delighted with the results.

Yes it has to be said DMS are at the top of there game for a reason, went above and beyond to accommodate, including hiring a group of F1 simulators where we could all race each other at the same time.. (PS Paul i had one more go and was 0.1 off you furious )

Cant see me using anyone else in the future, even though its a 5-6hr drive away.

it says alot when around the workshop they have engines like Lamborghini and Amg v12's lined up for projects

.

That makes sense about the mileage /bedding the engine in - mines on 39k so must be putting out around 650 bhp now , lol .

Does the mapping affect the throttle response ?

Only one way to find out cool

Need more time with mine to tell - it's immediately obvious that throttle mapping has changed but not sure if responsiveness has changed. It certainly feels much more urgent in the standard comfort setup.

Well with 750hp it's never going to be anything less than urgent! That'll be a beast Neil, nice one.

Figures are interesting...

Mine made the least I think (725 boo hoo), but starting from the least (571) means it gained 154 or an increase of 27% (!!)

Neil's finished highest at 751 (all that matters in the end), but starting from 629 is gain of 122 or 19%.

The torque curves varied quite widely too so the cars do not all behave in the same way dynamically.

Maybe look at some downpipes next smile

used to the power already ha

Your gonna be at 800bhp before you've even hit 2000miles.

I live in Southampton so maybe I should pop down for a chat... Seems like everyone likes the power hike, I guess time will tell how well it beds in.

Am sure rob would let you test his long term m5 that's been mapped for over a year I believe ...

Overall the hospitality at DMS was awesome. It's a pretty decent setup as well, some brilliant cars to look at, some lamborghini and amg v12 engines lying around. Organised lunch for us there as well.

Onto the cars, it's totally transformed. This is what it should have been from factory. The guys know their stuff obviously and they know the cars inside out.

Would have no hesitation whatsoever to have them work on my car again. DMS guys thanks very much for all your efforts on thursday!

Also great to meet some other m5/m6 owners as well, sound guys the lot of you!
