Personally I'd go down the downpipes route.

Much cheaper than an exhaust (which is really just £6k of cosmetics and you can only see the tailpipes bit of it) and they will make a massive difference to the sound and boost response (and keep the torque higher in the rpm range which of course makes more HP).

DPs transformed my 335i, the sound was amazing with the standard exhaust and the way it sharpened up the boost response and urgency of the motor was night & day. Much more effect than any exhaust can ever give.

S63 DPs are a doddle to fit too compared with N54/335i. It's as if BMW made it that way so you could swap them out easily!!

Good man! Talk about not pissing around and just getting on with it cool
Thanks. DMS have worked on every car I have had in recent times, it was almost a done deal as soon as they phoned me to say they were up in Scotland.

So far I am very impressed, I haven't had the chance to really stretch the car with the way the roads are at the moment plus I am on winter tyres which have more give. It's noticeably stronger mid range, not sure if they have nicked the wire going to the traction light, keeps flickering! I need to get used to the car with the change, my std mode is comfort then M1, is mid range control on traction and everything else turned up. I will go easy on this for a while, it really is much stronger up high.

Here some videos of a charity day I did a while back, wish I had the car done back then.

My car has the comp pack but I choose the std alloy preferring these to the optional style.

Mine are going on Marchs 31st - I'll let you know the outcome.

Had these changed on my last AMG and I would agree that good ones when married properly to a map make a very cost effective difference.

Yep, full evo system with carbon tips. The sound was my only issue with the 6, this more than sorted it in my view... And everyone who knows me. The extra GGs from a DMS service are just icing on the cake.

BTW I picked my system up secondhand but being Ti it's as good as new really. To pay retail means your loaded and/or mad!

What type are you going for? I've found the chinese supplier of AMS downpipes and they're selling for 400USD shipped from China! Versus 2000USD + taxes from the US!

Are you going CATed or DeCAT?

Was so close to getting this done but now having to sell the car to put towards a deposit for a car :/. If anyone is interested im taking off my M Performance Exhaust with carbon tips tomorrow, only 2 months old!!! Also a few other bits. PM me for a price, will be a bargain though. (Car is going up for sale too, again bargain price).
It's a shame I would of really liked to of seen the difference after a map.

I can't seem to PM you... I'm not really in a good position to do anything like this right now but tell me what you have in mind just in case.

I'm looking at shifting it quickly, I'm going to be asking for £3500 absolutely no lower. They amount of money in losing is eye watering haha, but needs must. Cheers

It's hard to say as in the few thousand miles I've quickly become acclimatised to it smile you'd probably have to revert the car to the stock map for me to really appreciate the difference.

What I do still notice is just the sheer pace at which the car now gathers speed in higher gears. In a way its made the car less dramatic because any acceleration on a public road is over so quickly and effortlessly and I find myself going near the redline less often than I did. The car feels as though it now picks up in 4th like it used to in 3rd, so you don't instinctively change down, yet 4th tops out at about 135mph so you just don't really end up going there very often.

I was due to take it to Germany next month but owing to unexpected surgery - which means I'm now not driving much - that trip has been canned. I expect you need an autobahn to really appreciate the difference especially as its now delimited.

How are things long term with dms? Any issues to report? Keen to hear how many trouble free miles any of you have had. Thinking of getting my M6 GC done. Thanks.

4000+ miles no issues at all in my M6GC. Managed 191.6mph at the recent Vmax event - fastest BMW and fastest 4 door on the day!

Not even used a drop of oil and I'm not the lightest on the gas. The other guys on this GB have done a lot more miles than I have too.

Some of us had a slight issue with a dip in power curve under some conditions that you could feel. I think DMS have learned from our cars and I recently had mine re-tweaked and re-dyno'd, for free, and it's now perfect.

I would recommend it for sure, bang for bucks there is nothing like it. (be sure to ask for discount wink)

NIce one Mike, thanks for the feedback. You have made my decision a lot easier.

Does it still go mental between 6k and 7500k ie at the top of the rev range even with the DMS map?

Yes, only more so smile

MDM mode becomes essential or else traction control will spoil the fun in 3rd too.
