It's done 1100 miles now, but the service isn't booked till the 26th Feb.

Just in time for the 3rd....

The DCT has a 700nm torque capacity according to BMW.

But they are running huge power/torque in the states as you say with seemingly no issues apart from uprating the clutches and the car runs 680nm standard so it does seem low.

Personally I'd be willing to pay for a Jahre 30 tune if the dealer offered it as a MPPK.

I'd take that aspect of that article with a pinch of salt (their performance stats are incorrect too) as not a chance any manufacturer would produce a transmission that in a production car is within 20nm of it's torque capacity.
Yes they do.

I'm Shropshire based but likely to be working on client sites before and after so was thinking of grabbing a hotel room down there the night before. If anyone travelling a long way anticipates doing the same and fancies a bite to eat in the evening let me know.

I'm based in West Lancs, but not sure yet if i'll make the journey early that morning (likely option) or if i'll be down South on business in which case i'll stay over on the Wednesday night, probably at the Hilton Southampton which is my usual haunt when in that neck of the woods. Should know for sure next week.

Nuts? There's reasoning in there somewhere.. wink

The way I look at it the engine and transmission is now at its peak reliability, just run in, fresh oil etc. What better time to get it done? The reality of a tune like this is that I/most will only use the "above factory" power and torque levels for about 0.1% of the time or less - the same time as I spend on wide open throttle! But its nice to have it when you do..

These cars are designed to cope with being hammered mercilessly by Arabs in 50degC heat or Russians in -45degC with zero mechanical sympathy and minimal servicing. I'm a stickler for warm ups and progressive throttle applications. And every month I delay having a remap it will reduce the time I have the map before selling the car, thus increasing the effective £/month of the map.

That's man-maths at its best!

Coming from Staffs BTW. I'm heading out early to be there for 9 ish.
