LPG E60 M5 or E92 M3 a good idea?

Really?I was asking for opinions on a forum I've used for years from individuals who are usually a bit more insightful than that.

And if you follow the links on m5board and here you'll get loads of feedback!
Did you go and Google your Dyson problems or did you stick a thread asking why? You might have googled but you still stuck a thread asking opinions.Seriously dude, how about we cancel the forum and just google everything...
Someone's been busy!
BTW I did search on my Dyson issue and couldn't find anything conclusive/relevant so decided to post. I also provided some information by the way of a performance comparison at the same time which some may have found useful.
Peace - my post wasn't meant to wind you up but to point you to some answers to your query.

I did actually Google the query and just came up with lots of arguing about the subjective value rather than any actual objective merits or negatives on engine longevity and effects on performance.
It's an intriguing proposition for sure.
I think one of the threads on M5board.com has a UK owner with good experiences over a couple of years?
Some will slag you off along the lines that if you can't afford to pay for the petrol you shouldn't be driving the car etc etc. That's rubbish - no point in p*ssing money away needlessly. If the conversion costs can be recouped in a reasonable period of time and you can find a good installer (seems to be a major contributor to reliability) then go for it. This is from someone who fitted a towbar to his E61 M5 so perhaps I'm not playing with a full deck.

I had an LPG'd Monaro and it was great. No issues whatsoever and running costs equivalent to 50mpg ish on a long run.
No idea what the BMW would be like but I have seen a few for sale from time to time...
I'm in oz and plenty of lpg'd Holdens as bullet proof engines - fear that M5 engines have a hard enough time not breaking without being messed with No idea what the BMW would be like but I have seen a few for sale from time to time...

Me too, it worked really well, but I fear the Beemer might be a more highly strung beast! No idea what the BMW would be like but I have seen a few for sale from time to time...
I'd be very tempted if an lpg vxr8 came up for sale
I remember looking into this a while ago and there were a couple of m5/m6 that had been lpg. from what I can remember they ran fine the only issue was that their was a mode on the engine which would only use some of the cylinders causing the car to be more economical and then by pressing a button youd get the full power. this caused an issue as the lpg couldn't switch between the 2 states so I think the person kept the car running on all cylinders while using lpg. youd probably be able t find the thread by searching but beaware there seems to be a lot of hate when you mention you want to run them kind of cars on gas

No BMW, let alone M models, ever had cylinder de-activation, so the mode you refer to is probably the 400/500 bhp switch, which is only an engine management map, so that would not stop an LPG installation from working properly. This company has converted both M5's and M3's to LPG which run without any issues...
