Is this a trait of the car would you say, or has mine maybe had too many launch starts in it's past?
Never notice it at any sort of speed, but at slow speeds the slack can feel quite alarming.
Any thoughts?

Try a transmission fluid change and a setting reset?

They are all a bit clunky at low speeds mate dct and manuals, usually when pulling up at junctions at low speeds and maneuvering but should feel nice when you get a bit more speed up,

With DCT you can experience the odd low speed clunk but these should be rare exceptions, the early DCT in the e92 did suffer from some issues but there have been software updates all the way through the models life.

First thing I'd do is check your software version and get it updated.

Whilst the DCT box can generally be clunky at low speeds. I noticed mine getting worse and had a look underneath to notice a small leak (not an uncommon issue), took it in for the work to be covered under warranty and was then a lot better.

May be worth having a look if there is any leak from the box, mine was soaked in to the undertray cover and wasn't actually dripping.

Been there, done that, put 8000 miles on one. Hideously over rated and over valued car. 4 major weak points already discussed at length elsewhere.
This is a far better car in just about every way.

CRAP gearbox and CRAP brakes as the number 1 and 2 weaknesses, but I digress.

Check your cars integration level: this is the latest version E89X14-03-500 updating to that will help with any low speed shunts/hesitations...

Check for slack in the drivetrain...its unlikely to be anything to do with the DCT.
Maybe jack up the rear of the car and see if turning one of the wheels produces some clunky type noise.
