Collected my second M5 a few days ago... its an Imola 2 red E60 with all the options I felt I had to have (my other M5 was very heavily loaded). The car has a strange option '903 special check trade fair/Photo vehicle' meaning it was originally a BMW motor show car which I guess is unusual.
The previous owner was told this was one of only 2 E60 M5's in the UK this colour... the other was stolen as he was contacted by the other owner who wanted to check this car wasn't his stolen one... so if that one was never recovered it could be the only one left smile

Like last time I have not gone for the BMW warranty, prefer to hold back the funds for repairs myself... I still have my first M5 so I have plenty of spares should I need them smile ... but this car has had the clutch, throttle actuators etc all done recently so fingers crossed eh lol

Why buy and run two? Or is the first one retired?

The other one was flood damaged by a garage failing to refit the fuse box cover when they worked on it (30 second job)... tried to fix it by it was filled to the sills with water and gave up as every time I fixed something another issue surfaced.
Ive put the engine in a capri now so Ive not lost everything on that car smile

Not sure if red suits the E60 but it certainly will get noticed. The interior looks lovely. Does it feel good to be driving one again ?

I was looking for a blue car until I saw this and loved the colour and interior, car feels great drives exactly like the old one... Had a 6 hr drive home after collecting it so had plenty of time to set the car up as I like... One thing I have noticed is that the auto mode seems to be smoother than my old one, even usable... Might be because it was actually used a lot more.

Worth noting that this was the same money for same mileage & spec to when I bought the other one 4 years ago... so values didn't nose dive as predicted.... Awsome car that's going to become a classic in years to come.

Andy, that is a remarkable looking car for certain. Is that Platinum or Sepang Bronze on the interior. Piano Black as well, I only wish we could get that trim still in the states.

Absolutely beautiful car. I apologize for responding to your last email, I haven't quite figured out the answer to your question yet, but still working on it.

If there are any options you don't have on it and wish to retrofit let me know, I've pretty much done them all now.

The interior is Champagne Merino with the dash being merino black, the car is stunning in the flesh so Im very happy.... the only option I would consider retro fitting would be the TV module from my other car, but in truth I never used it anyhow.

No worries on the email, I have found the information I need now and have a plan as to how to use the V10, loom, clocks, etc etc in my Capri. Engine is already in so its looking good now smile

One question I do have, is it worth getting the Bavarian Technic BMW diagnostic tool?... I'm looking of something that I can work with on my project while I install the engine and loom.

Great looking car OP - much better looking in red than I thought it would be.

The idea of a backup car when things go wrong sounds good too, but please keep us posted on the Capri project...

Very unusual, certainly stands out.
Would love to see pics of the Capri?

Capri is only started this year, I have a lot planned for the car of which the engine isn't the most significant mod.

Here is the most interesting pic smile

Thread for the capri build is in readers cars... as is a thread for my full carbon bodied Noble.

Looks to be in great condition, really like your idea with the M5 engine in the Capri. Turning a negative situation with the water damage into a positive one.
