Potential for movement on used F10 M5 price from dealer?
Discussion
I've seen an f10 with a dealer that I really like the look of.
It's up at just under 40k, but comparing this to others on age/miles/spec it's about 2-3k over average already.
What sort of margin would you expect them to have to play with? I was always taught if you aren't embarrassed by you opening bid then it isn't low enough! So I'm thinking of going in 20% under list?
Any thoughts or experiences?

Haha haha haha.
I dont mean that horribly but this is what you will hear if you ask for £8k off. They will think you are a time waster and possibly won't even entertain any further negotiation.
Max I would try for is 5%, even then they will probably think this is a bit cheeky.

Not expecting a full 20, that's where I'll start. It's worked for me before, so I'll stick with it. It's 2-3k over other auc cars already. There then needs to be some movement on the price. That's what I'm trying to get a feel for.
Any more constructive comments or experiences?

Why? If you don't ask, you don't get. Frankly, I'd be ashamed of myself if I didn't throw an eye-watering bid at the seller first. In this climate (or for any large-engined, mass produced exec car in general), no one is going to turn their back on you just for bidding them in the balls.
Anyway, pointless thread: no point in asking the bloody internet if a seller will accept an offer. Pick up the phone or better still, darken his desk!

Which begs the question - if the cheaper AUC cars are the same spec/mileage/colour etc, why don't you go for those?Got a link to the car?

No harm in asking but i can't imagine any dealer would have that kind of margin in the car as that would suggest they bought it for £32k which is way below the market value of these cars. As someone else said i reckon at best you'd get 5% (£2k) off. It's up at just under 40k, but comparing this to others on age/miles/spec it's about 2-3k over average already.

I assume this is a car for sale in the BMW dealer network? Other options are free servicing etc. or extend the warranty.
lol looks like we are all in the same boat.
I think they are all overpriced too and due a drop.
Same as other posters I have noticed 2-3k drops this month.
I am sure they will drop further as the stock sits there doing nothing.
Level of discounts very much depend on the dealer and the way they deal with stock that has been there 5 months +. Some are happy to keep cars 6 months+ and some get rid after 3-6 months

if this helps my 63 reg MCB with sakhir interior, 16k on clock and only options 20" wheels was offered to me for £41,500 back in september so it was 2 years old.
It appeared 2 months later at a specialist and was pitched at £45k. It was on the pitch for 8 weeks in total
That's useful, thanks. This is a 13 on 22k. So I feel that backs up my thoughts on it being a touch over priced as it stands. It appeared 2 months later at a specialist and was pitched at £45k. It was on the pitch for 8 weeks in total

Yes, it's an AUC. Extra warranty is a good shout and one to use when haggling. I assume this is a car for sale in the BMW dealer network? Other options are free servicing etc. or extend the warranty.
I tried to find out the warranty cost but it wasn't easy online, am I correct in thinking it's around £1300 a year?

That figure does ring a bell, however an accurate price can only really be had from the Dealer if sticking with the BMW warranty.I tried to find out the warranty cost but it wasn't easy online, am I correct in thinking it's around £1300 a year?

So it ain't a LCI neither on a 13 plate. Tell the dealer that bothers you. Use that as a bargaining toolI tried to find out the warranty cost but it wasn't easy online, am I correct in thinking it's around £1300 a year?
