.. Which I'd like first refusal on if you ever trade the car
No worries, it's completely stunning! I've just bought John's 20's with winters (to eventually use as summers) and have committed to the DMS group buy, so the guy who said he'd never modify the car is backtracking.
I'm not far behind you in the mileage stakes, 23k in 11 months which will continue, hence treating it as a long term keeper.

Just got bid 41k for a 28k 15 plate M5. (ouch!) So its lost £26,000 in 11 months from the invoice price.
Keep it five years. The depreciation continues, but the curve gets shallower and it feels less painful spread over five years. I just think about my E60 in terms of ownership cost per year. Including petrol, servicing and insurance, it must have cost me about £13K a year to own and drive. IATM said:

I have a friend who has checked with wbac for his march 2012 m5 with 55k and has initially been offered £25k
He has owned it from new and the car is nicely specced: Individual Azurite Black, black leather multi function seats, through load, upgraded audio, powered tailgate, comfort access, soft close doors plus a few more. Is this where the market is at?

Doesn't seem that bad considering wbac (in my experience) generally equates to a rock bottom trade bid.
Would be interesting to see book values for private and retail sales to see what sort of margin exists in theory.
It's also fairly consistent with the PCP GFV on my 2015 car after 48m / 40k

Mine had very low mileage.
In fairness Zod if I remember correctly from the old 3MW days (or whatever it was called) your car spent quite a lot of time on a low loader (the M5 got stolen too, but it was recovered)
How do you guys feel the upcoming new M5 model will affect prices? At the minute I am looking to shift the 2nd car on, probably in May, and the F10 is on the list of contenders. I think it would be nice to have both the e39 and f10 on the drive. The issue is, the 2nd car is usually a stable investment (ie own for a few years and sell for the same, more, slightly less than purchase price and I cannot help but feel the new model will hit these hard in 2 years.
Also why are the 6's not doing so well?

I'm not so sure it will have a significant affectAlso why are the 6's not doing so well?
By May they'll be a few around for 30k in another 12 months when maybe new m5 is on the horizon they'll be 26-7ish regardless.
Chances are new one will be 4wd and heavier using the same engine afaik so apart from a fresher look some may argue the newer one has taken the fun out of it by adding 4wd...
I could be completely wrong on all accounts of course.
My guess on the new car is even if it has AWD they will get it under the F10 weight (just), I don't think it will have masses more power either, the additional traction will improve the stats 3.7 (ish) to 62 quoted etc...
The F10 is based on the old 7 series platform a very heavy beast indeed it jumped 100kg from the e60 I think they will target 100kg less weight and then add 70-80kg back on if they have chosen AWD for the M5.
(all guess work and probably wide of the mark)
