By May they'll be a few around for 30k in another 12 months when maybe new m5 is on the horizon they'll be 26-7ish regardless.
There's a few around now at £31k in independents, probably end up paying just under £30k. They do seem to be dropping fast - are these cheaper cars going to have oil problems ? The BMW dealer cars are all significantly more expensive.George111 said:

Id imagine at that money they will not be in any way tidy examples.Even a car as valuable as the M5 gets used as daily snotters by some....
When you say oil problems what do you mean? running in service missed?

They're 4yr old cars if it's the 2 i'm thinking of & if something's too cheap then you have to ask yourself why as those 2 cars don't stack up financially against others in the dealer network or for sale at other Independants.likesachange said:

I have two friends who run F10 M5s as 'daily snotters'. Is there something wrong with this, after all it's a 5 series BMW. Incidentally they say the cars are quite comfy but not particularly pleasant in traffic.Even a car as valuable as the M5 gets used as daily snotters by some....

nothing at all wrong with it, wish i was in the financial situation where i could, i was pointing out that the cheaper ones are more than likely pretty neglected.likesachange said:

Likely to be higher mileage but I don't see why they should be neglected. Maybe just showing signs of their age?popeyewhite said:

Nothing wrong with using one as a 'daily snotter' - I'm doing approx 30k/year in one and will continue to do so until its worth almost nothing - but if buying used it stands to reason one would rather mind a more cherished example.

Neglected I mean getting the kids to wash it with a gritty sponge, parking in tight spaces where prone to inconsiderate others bashing your doors with theirs, the odd kerbing of wheels, scuff of bumper and shrug there shoulders at etc If it's not there pride and joy there's no real reason to take much time and care looking after the aesthetics TBH especially if a lease car.
mechanically I agree no reason why they would be neglected in that area especially with many having the service pack option checked.
Although wasn't there a thread a few months ago with someone who didn't bother servicing it and it ran dry of oil...?

A lot of presumptions you're making there. If it's not there pride and joy there's no real reason to take much time and care looking after the aesthetics TBH especially if a lease car.

Judge each car by its merits! Could be priced keenly for a quick sale.

Yep and from my experience 95% of the time the cars substantially cheaper than any others are priced like so for a reason....Judge each car by its merits! Could be priced keenly for a quick sale.
Not always but That is my pretty experienced opinion...

I was referring to the high oil consumption BMW seem to have, never had a car use more than a litre between services as there's really no reason for it - I was just wondering if the cheaper ones were cheap because they are suffering with high oil consumption, or higher than average anyway.

Mine is coming up for three years old in May and looks well....still as new on the inside, with unblemished skin.
I detailed it last weekend and, as I admired my gleaming machine afterwards, it dawned on me how stupid I'd be to sell it and then get another F10.
No real gain, except if it had the competition pack on it, which does sharpen the drive somewhat.
Excellent everyday cars.....DCT is fab, even in heavy traffic.....settings may need to be played with though!

I bought my 2015 M5 with competition pack in June last year. By the time its a year old in a few months time, it will have done 10,000 miles. I use it almost every day and it is absolutely fine in traffic. I just put it in full auto and let it get on with it.
I've had quite a few of these types of cars - a couple of AMGs, an XFR at one point - and they all provided me with huge amounts of enjoyment but no financial satisfaction. But then I knew that when I bought them....
Sure, the M5 will be worth a fraction of its (discounted) original price, but so what? In the meantime, I intend to enjoy every mile I drive in it. Eventually, they'll stop making cars like this, so I say we should enjoy them while we can.

I'm the same, mine is used everyday in very heavy traffic too and it's an absolute doddle. My E60 was a different story though! The prices are dropping quite quickly and at £35k a 2013 F10 is remarkable value. I last had a BMW in the 90's, a 525 one of the first 24v models and it was rather nice but I've not been keen on them since except the M5 and right now it looks excellent value, especially as a year-ish younger M3/M4 is at least £12k more for a lot less car with more to lose. Also the M3/M4 doesn't appeal.
The only other option is an E63 AMG 5.5.
