My F10 goes back in a few months and what a great car that was, I enjoyed every minute and it's the one car I always looked forward to getting into.

I have however now decided due to the need to have a change and also be able to carry my dog around to buy the following........da da daaaaaaaa drum roll.........

An X5 M50d wobble

I'm really happy with the prospect of having this in the drive. I love the X5, the X5M is just too much car for everyday use for me and I'll still retain some power even if it's on the dark side of the internal combustion engine wink

Spec as follows:

Black Sapphire or Space Grey
20” wheels 468M
Black Dakota leather
M Sport
Enhanced Bluetooth
Head-up display
Loudspeaker Harman/Kardan
Sun protection glass
Adaptive lights/High beam assist
Multi-function instrument panel
Reverse assist camera/surround view
Speed Limit display
Comfort Access
5 year servicing

My dealer is already offering a very good deal (I have purchased 5 cars over the last 3 years, I think that helps!) but I'll push for more wink

I read this is very worthy of an M badge........some think the M135 is though and whilst it makes no difference to it will be interesting reading the reactions of the PH M Massive smile

In my opinion not an M car, same with the M135i. For a true M car you have to have the whole package not just a great engine.

I like the idea of one of these, enjoy!

Coast2Coast are offering about £13k off the list price for your spec, make sure you manage at least that

Not a car I'd choose, but I really dislike the driving position in 4X4s.

I've heard that it is a pretty rapid machine and drives very well (for a 4X4). Not quite sure why you'd choose the M50d over a full fat X5M, I bet in the real world you get nowhere near the official 42.8mpg of the X50d and you still have to put up with smelly fuel and the pollution it creates. You'd probably get an even bigger discount on the X5M too. smile

Because I'm trying to get away form a car that always wants to head-butt the horizon.

However I get where you're coming from yes

Can you get a X5M?

I loved my X5, it was a cracking car, although the only thing I hated was filling it up...

Enjoy OP

Edit - just built a X5M - £111,720 yikes

Swapped my M5 for a x5M50 in December as a daily driver, which has been a great decision. The was my first 4x4 purchase, looking for a more chilled way to get around day to day.
I was all set on a X5M, but after extended test drive I didn"t really gel with it. Immense speed, but too fast for a truck, mighty engineering, but a bit one trick.... When you were on it, great, but when wanted to smooch around, too compromised.
Not expecting to like it, but dealer also had a X5m50 to try and I loved it out the box. Away from the lights so quick and in normal daily driving an unbelievably relaxing way to get around. For 95% of the time it is a better DD than the M5. I.e. You can use all of the torque all of the time with zero traction issues regardless of weather, greasy roads, cold tyres, etc....
However, if you don't also have access to a weekend toy, then very occasionally you may miss the absolute outright performance of the M5, but then there are always compromises.
Deal wise I factory ordered and received £12,500 discount including c£5k extras. Essentials for me being comfort seats, HK, reverse camera, 20 inch wheels, HUD. I suggest you push for extended test drive. Deal for deal the X5M was going to be an extra £28k. Not worth it Imo. For me X5M50 better all round package. Also averaging 29mpg 4K into ownership round the doors against 15.8mpg on the x5m (granted over only 115 miles).

Sorry not an M car but that is not a bad things, its about what you want.

I have to say as the ultimate family wagon this is it! Certainly something I would love to own! congrats on the purchase.
for me I would either love to have this on a GL350 however the one bad thing about the GL is the relatively poor performance from the engine in this day and age.

Enjou it, I am sure you will!

Agreed, not an M car, and for me I just don't get the X range of cars with lots of M bits, and the X5/6M cars just seem pretty pointless. Not my cup of tea.

I would guess there are some pretty special cars around for that sort of money and I don't see why anyone would spend £100k+ on a spec 'd up X5/6M, but then same goes for the super fast range rovers...

However good luck with your purchase op.

Andy.

I pick up my X5M next week and considered the X5 M 50D so I understand where the op is coming from. On our less than perfect roads in our much less than perfect weather an X5 with some performance makes a lot of sense.

Discounts can be had on pre registered cars I bought my 2015 X6M with 4000 miles on for 26% less than its list price including options.

The X6M just like the X5M is frighteningly quick.
I average 19.8 MPG, though on a recent run up to Scotland I got 21 MPG. I agree with other posters these cars its a bit like riding a wild stallion. In M mode the car just wants to go ..................

Just doesn't feel right that something that weights over 2 ton is so fast of the mark.

Must say its the first M car I have ever owned and I absolutely love it to bits, not just how it drives and handles but the whole package.

In which case you'll kick yourself when you realise you've missed out on the 2 series Active Tourer.

Mods, please move this thread to the bmw general forum. Unless op plans to get it mapped.

Sounds great, lovely spec however I think I'd have sprung for the nappa leather as Dakota is a bit cheap for a car at this price level.

That's interesting, glad you like yours and I'm sure I'll feel the same.

I've got a weekend loaner from BMW when I get back in the country early May although I'm a big fan of BMW, have had 3 X5s and I'm sure it's going to be brilliant.

@hajaba123, Coast2Coast have made my dealers offer look frankly silly and unfortunately my existing dealer will have to drop the cost quite a lot more to get anywhere near coast2coast, thanks for the mention thumbup

Can you please ensure its debadged on the rear as I think they look awful!

Should be a great all-rounder though - my colleague has one and speaks very highly of it (he's also had an E60 M5 and various other comparatively high performance cars).
