Anyone find it a bit intrusive. To me it comes on a bit much. Even a couple of full bore 2nd 8k revs to third gear and it cuts in which can be quite violent. Is there that much torque difference between 2nd gear top revs to changing to third?

Tyres are brand new 400 miles ago

Did it behave the same before you changed the tyres? It does sound a bit unusual.

Might be worth switching off the traction control and scrubbing in the new rubber? biggrin

Long shot but... did you have a geo done when the tyres were installed? I ask because when the geo was finished on my Z4M the steering wheel angle sensor was found to be out by 4 degrees. In theory this meant that when the car detected loss of grip the stability control system would try to straighten the car out by 4 degrees even though that wasn't correct. The car was certainly much more stable and had better grip (the wheelspin at 70mph in the wet is a thing of the past but hard to know how much is because of the geo and how much because of the correct sensor setting). Might be worth getting that checked?

Being a 2002 I don't think you will be able to but just double check you can't get M-Track mode enabled (it's a halfway traction control setting as found on the CSL and CS)

I suspect you wouldn't have the same traction problem with Michelin Pilot Super Sports.
