Soper of Lincoln. I have to say they've been excellent. Very friendly and helpful, enjoyed every minute of dealing with them.
Pirellis seem fine to me, although I've not driven like maniacal unconscionable lunatic yet!

Depreciation is, I'm sure, appalling. But the feeling of getting in a car with effectively zero miles is, as they say, priceless.
Add to that the lack of mechanical running costs and it almost, with very liberal and exotic man maths, makes sense!

I treated myself to a new M5 last week, (why not!) and that came fitted with Pirelli's.

Lovely, and perfect weather to enjoy the new car.

I've not heard the CP exhaust, but i've heard about it!
It's not a 'night and day' between this and the standard exhaust and doesn't make a huge difference inside the car. However it was enough of a difference to realise that it was a must have option for me.

It's an emotive subject as the current depreciation when viewed against what owners have paid is actually fairly good, when viewed against List price the picture is of course not so good.

Also not helped by as others have said, a raft of Lease/CH cars with fairly basic spec hitting the market now as they come to the end of their 3yr leases. That said, these cars represent great value & still at £30-35k are only about 40-45% less than the original owners would have paid as they would have been around £60k new.

So they have ridden out the massive depreciation curve and the slope should now be shallower. At £35k how longer before they hit £20-£25? Two years?

Anyone remember back to how the E60 behaved. Good ones are still over £20k.

It's an extraordinary joy to be able experience such a car, be it new or used. One could debate the best ways to purchase such a thing long into the night, there really is no one way suits all. Try one for a weekend, throw caution to the wind and take ownership, or higher one. Better to try and know for sure than to wonder what if?
I think life's about the journey as much as the final destination, and what a lovely way to travel!

I too will be taking the f10 plunge next year now. Decided to use my e39 until the end of summer and then sell up, sit on the money and save up for an f10.

Sub 35k now gets you a good 2013 example. Getting tempting.

This is my thinking.... But how likely are they to fall to current E60 M5 prices?

Very, still another 20k to go before they bottom out become rarer and stabilise

Would you say it's best to hold off for a few more years then?

Depends... age old question of greater upfront outlay for purchase price with more dep'n for a relatively fresh car or PAYG maintenance on a leggy £20k car. Having read your E39 posts from both cars I'm sure you know a thing or 2 about the latter! Guess it comes down to peace of mind...

I do think prices across the whole market for sports cars/toys are firmer than they would have been if it were not for this seemingly indefinite low interest rate environment where people may as well enjoy the cash burning a hole in their bank accounts so curve may be shallower than the E60 where end of production was as we were coming out of the crisis + bork fears

True on all counts, though my second e39 has cost and caused me less money and issues than my first one. Much of the suspension work was done by the previous owners and I have a good idea about the other niggles. There is nothing to say that an f10 couldn't drop a big bill on you at any moment. Just because there aren't many (any?) reports yet, doesn't mean it cannot happen.

Tbh, if they drop to around the £25k mark for a 2013 in a year or so then I'd be very tempted at that as it would take a lot less time to save up, and also I'd wear the depreciation as I'd intend on keeping it a while. But at the same time, the longer you keep a car, the higher the chance of a big bill. It really is a case of six of one, half a dozen of the other.
