Just had a look at a picture of mine side on photo on completely flat ground and it's definately higher than yours at the front anyway. Can't post a photo from my iPad on here as it doesn't seem to work with photo bucket.
Have a look at my thread and you will see the height of mine in the first few pics, mine is standard height http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

It was for you mate. I'm not into that Alpina.

Yours definitely looks lowered to me. Have a look at your springs, maybe Blue H&R's?
Hmmmm....will have a look. Dealer pics seems to have it at a more normal height no?

Looks lower than my old one on the front which was on standard shocks/springs ...

What have I started. lol

Personally I think it sits lovely, there is a little too much air in the arches as standard IMHO.

Strange thing is, the ride seems perfectly fine in comfort, sporty in normal and too stiff for the road in Sport, so if it is on aftermarket springs I don't think they're all that different from standard ones! Or maybe I just have high tolerance biggrin

I do have a Mondial warranty! biggrin

I caught myself googling exhausts last night but I think I'm going to try and keep it standard. I have loud cars so keeping this one as a sleeper appeals quite a lot!

Mini update:

So about 10 days into ownership all is going well. few things worth mentioning:

1) fuel consumption: you've got to love it. Tickling her along with the odd squirt on a good piece of road yields about 14.5mpg hehe Money well spent though smile

2) back end felt very squirmy when giving it the full potatoes, thought it was just the road surface around where I live, but I checked the tyre pressures the other day and all were at about 1.8 bar! The fronts are now on 2.3 and the rears are on 3.2 and things seem to be much better (might even help fuel consumption). Not sure if they are correct though as a) it's quite tricky to deduce the correct pressures from the plate on the door (I might be being dumb but the diagram is confusing as hell to me!) and I didn't have the handbook handy at the time, and b) the rears are 305 section which appears to be non-standard

3) getting used to the gearbox - it's interesting as I've found that auto mode is actually quite liveable so long as you're just pottering and using it like a regular car, it actually encourages you to take it easy as the gearshifts are then quite smooth. If you then start trying to drive with a little more verve, it's all a bit terrible so you then have to switch to manual, but it's still not ideal as even with the lifting on change up the clutch seems to not do a great job. When you're at 8/10s or more vicious gear shifts are then quite fun smile So basically, it encourages you to either drive like grandma or thrap it everywhere hehe

4) quick question: whenever I get in, auto mode gear change is *always* reset to 1, is there anyway to make it remember what it was on the last time? It's not the end of the world but it seems to want to make the car pull away in 2nd as result which can't be good for clutch life.

Stock tyre pressures are 2.5 bar all round, 305 rears are 20mm wider than standard!! So no idea about that...

Just drive it in manual mode all the time, pottering about in D1 might be smooth but won't be good for clutch life (as you've alluded to). Tips to preserve clutch life are to set off firmly (but not launching it) so the clutch engages fully asap and knock it into neutral at a set of lights.

I'm sure there are ways to program default settings on startup, but you need tools to do that as you can't do it through iDrive.

If I ever use D mode which sometimes I do in heavy traffic it is always D2. it always reverts to D1 when re starting the engine which is annoying.

Standard rear is 285/35/19, surprised that 305 isn't rubbing on the arch lip, it may do with a bit of weight in the back or full suspension travel. I'm going to swap from Continentals to Michelin Pilot Super sports as they seem to be the best tyre for the M5 from reviews.
