is it available with a software update? Looking at getting an updated map DVD, but was hoping they might be able to upgrade the software as well to handle full postcodes...

I bought the latest maps from BMW last month £84. I don't think you can update it for full postcode. I might be wrong. Let me know if you find you can. I find the sat nav a bit rubbish tbh.

Yeah, I know! I'm pretty stubborn with Sat Nav even if pants as it means I don't have to have a Tom Tom in the car on the windscreen! Have now got BMW checking whether a software update is available for full postcode, will report back....

I tested the 2015 maps with my 05 car, didn't have full 7 digit postcode. The only good thing about the satnav is having the directions on the HUD, but at the expense of a noisy DVD disc spinning away and a crappy 10 year old system.

Get Waze (free phone app) and a Kenu Airframe+ (cheaper copies available on eBay).

Had it confirmed, 7 digit postcode input is not available frown

There are aftermarket discs that allow 7 digit post code searches - rather than enter the post code as part of the address you search on a type of information category (like what hotels and restaurants are), then enter a partial post code and the system searches and presents you with a list of the full post codes and you scroll through and pick the one you want. It's been a while since I've used it and it's fiddly. Long since switched to waze - has much better real-time traffic and routing info.

Whilst the after market DVDs will give full postcode functionality they are generally of a lesser quality than OEM which can lead to premature wear/burn of the Idrive head.
