This wash lasts 2 years? Sorry, I know nothing about detailing.
basically valeting is a wash, wax, hoover, window clean etc. your usual full works clean up. - £40-60 depending on who is doing it.Detailing is stripping the wax back to bare paint, machine polishing to remove all the swirl marks you get from regular washing and every day use taking the paint back to perfect condition, then applying a variety of products to protect the paint. in this case hes added a coating (there are a few brand options). the coating is guaranteed for 2 years by the detailer. It wont prevent scratches although lessens the chance of getting them but should mean the car retains that "just waxed" look for 2 years as long as you maintain it with regular washes and look after it.
the detailer will also remove the wheels to clean them properly, treat them with a sealant as well. Clean up the wheel wells, clean the engine bay, protect that and pretty much the same with the interior.
Its basically the dogs danglies of car cleaning and takes 3 days or so to do properly. you end up with what looks like a brand new car afterwards hence the £££

I have also heard of people wrapping their cars with a clear plastic after it being detailed which means its truly protected!
