I'm seriously considering an M4 convertible, either a new factory order or a delivery miles MY16 car in dealer stock - there seem to be quite a few around with decent discounts.

Originally I was set on a competition pack, but after reading some reviews of the MY16 cars am no longer so sure whether it's worth the premium on the convertible. I prefer the look of the standard wheels, and the convertible probably doesn't need stiffer suspension. Has anyone driven an M4 convertible with CP who can pass comment on the value of the differences from the standard car?

There are a few manual cars around in the dealer network with deep discounts. I'd originally discounted a manual, and loved the DCT in the one I test drove. Am I right to discount the manual? A delivery miles car for £50k is quite appealing...

Any other must have options?

Can't help on the convertible bit, but I'm currently looking for a new M3 or M4 and was at Sytner Nottingham yesterday. Pretty annoying that they didnt have a single M3 or M4 to demo let alone a CP car. In fact they've got no M cars on demo!!!

Loads of reviews online citing that the CP cars drive nicer than the non-CP cars. I don't really understand why anyone would buy a non CP car now and my dealer told me that all new M3 / M4 orders that he has seen have been CP's.

I wasn't feeling the discounts with the 2 showroom M4's, one a Signal Green DCT car (£68k) which looked epic and another more stock sapphire black manual M4 (£58k).

I really think the manual cars with suffer more depreciation come resale though.

After discussing the resale on my car, I am waiting for an end of year delivery (to help numbers and get a better discount) or 1st March next year.

All my thoughts of having an Individual colour are finished since finding out they add a minimum £75 per month on a PCP deal!!!!

i think that a manual will suffer short term depreciation over and above a DCT, in 10 or 15 years time this may reverse, look at Ferrari 430 manuals! but who knows

i've just ordered a Coupe CP DCT, i've not drove either yet! waiting for Sytner Leicester to arrange back to back test drives, my only concern with the CP is that it'll be too hard even in comfort, commercially though its a no brainer to order the CP if you like the wheels, which i do smile

Regarding CP or non CP, I bought a new M3 about a month ago.
I didn't want to wait for a new factory order and had a choice of several unregistered cars.

I originally agreeded a deal on a grey CP with DCT and at the point of signing the contract I changed my mind and swapped to a non CP car with individual paint.

The individual paint and a couple of other bits meant there was no difference in cost.

I was personally a bit concerned about the quality of the ride with the CP wheels and was defo not a fan of the look of the wheels.
I also seriously doubted I was that hardcore a driver that I'd actually notice the benefits of the CP for on road driving.

After a month of ownership I have no doubts at all about my choice.
That said I can fully understand why you'd want the CP. It's all down to personal choice and CP or not they are absolutely awesome bits of kit.

Whatever you choose, you'll enjoy it.

Thanks for the replies - that's a gorgeous looking M3 Nick!

I tend to agree that a manual will suffer more depreciation, at least short term. On CP vs non-CP I think a lot of the comparisons are MY15 vs MY16 CP and that MY16 has seemingly moved the game on and the difference is quite small.

Currently erring towards a factory order. It seems impossible to get a stock car in the colour I want (austin yellow or maybe orange or yas marina blue) with anything close to the options I want (Comp Pack, DCT, HK audio, Carbon trim, Full leather - ideally with contrast stitching, HUD, Adaptive lights, Comfort pack).

All of the review say that if anything the CP cars ride better than the stock cars.

Check out this YouTube channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCR0n3VAw3mEwe3qdY...

The chap went from stock M3 - modded M3 to stock M3 CP to modded CP.... great video diaries.

CP car everytime for me and based on quotes the CP car works out similar to a non-CP car.
