Spotted this on eBay.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/112054830090

Someone dropped the V10 from the E60 into an E46 and mated it with the manual box from the V8 M3.
I've seen it done before but this implementation is the neatest I've seen. Top marks to the guy, that thing must go like a stabbed gazelle.

Thought it needed sharing. smile

Epic.

That must be one quick mother of a car.

How much of hassle was it mating the V10 with the E92 box?

DCT box fits too. The e90 v8 is pretty much the same as the v10 minus 2 cylinders. Plus the US models use that gearbox iirc and the M5 CSL prototype used the DCT box

no major drama's really.
both gearbox's share the same bolt pattern. the dowels are in the same place, as is the crank position sensor. the only bit that needs attention, is there is a spacer between the thrust bearing and the fingers on the pressure plate. the spacer on the v10 doesn't seat very well on the v8 thrust bearing,
so I had a slightly different spacer made, that sits on the v8 thrust bearing nicely.

And in driving, is it like S54 plus?

Will it spin up in the first three gears in the dry?

You could be right. smile

There's something about that V10 engine though. It sounds incredible! I do love e46 M3's too!

If I did have your epic car I'd have an ox blood red leather interior and staggered BBS LM on sport cup rubber. (Not that I've been thinking about it you understand)

As you seem to be the expert...

how much work is it to fit a 6sped manual to an E60/61 M5. I love the idea of a M5 touring, but despise the SMG gear boxes.
