as previously posted flaps are present but no fixings beneath so I'd be saying no.

Very marmite subject, but agree go for what you want. The roof rack option would be more of an issue to me however.

Light in the cabin? my cars has windows doesn't yours? wink

I see only negatives with a sun roof. Noisy drafty things that go moldy round the seals and are PIA to clean properly. If you ever do choose to open back the blind they always seem to have a great fresh bird st strewn across the glass, nice. Also as they are flat the water never runs off and they always dry with dirt marks all over them, or little pools of muck in the corners. (thus the green algae covered seals)

Why drive with the sun beating on your head and in your eyes from directly above making you squint? odd IMO.

If I've been unfortunate to have one for "free" then the blind has stayed religiously closed. My E63 AMG had one of the double window horror things for free, I opened it once at 40mph, my ears duly popped and the roaring sound drowned out conversation.. great feature.

Agree with your opening sentence but disagree with the rest!

I find M-Sport BMW's quite dark and oppressive inside, especially if you've got black leather in combination with anthracite headlining and sun protection glass; in those circumstances a glass sunroof helps to lift the cabin no end IMO. Can't say I've ever had a problem as a result of the sun beating on my head and certainly haven't had to squint due to the extra sunlight; however, I tend to drive looking forwards through the windscreen rather than up through the sunroof! Joking aside you've obviously had some bad experiences with sunroofs and if you don't like them that's fair enough; however, I prefer natural light and in the same way I don't like houses that are dark and dingy inside I don't like car interiors that are like that either - each to their own though!

I loved the glass roof in my C63 Coupe and should have specced one in my 640d, big mistake.

I'm getting an M3 next but I don't want the sunroof as I prefer the look of the carbon roof.

Can't think many would like a dark and dingy house either, although "cosy and comforting" springs to mind.

I also someone who drive with sunvisors down at all times, who needs to see the sky whilst driving? - a nice letterbox view is much less distracting.

Those horrific panorama windscreen things give me a cold sweat!

Could be people have heard the rumour that the sunroof crack on stiffly suspended cars so not many were sold.

Why not just get the roof wrapped in carbon and have the "look" and the sunroof!

If they did a panoramic option with an all black glass roof like Mercedes did with the old C63 coupe I think it would be more popular but BMW don't offer that kind of roof the standard sunroof looks a bit pants next to the carbon roof with its detailing.
