I've acquired a 2011 orange BMW 1M coupe, call me greedy but 340 bhp and 369 Ft-lb of torque isn't enough.

What would you get done?

Remap and highflow cats for a start. Or better still decat if you have a friendly MOT man...

It uses the earlier N54 engine (like the original 335i) which is bombproof any way more tuneable than the N55.

My 09 335i was over 400bhp, never missed a beat and the decats makes it sound just awesome.

Thanks for the quick responses. An ECU re map and decat exhaust are definitely at the top of the shopping list.

I've seen this shopping list and the revozport body kit and akrapovic really wet my appetite.

Do a before run on a decent dyno before doing anything so you can get a baseline to see what you gain, and then go back to same RR to do the after runs.
And you will likely find you have a bit more than 340hp to begin with, as most stock 1M's seem to be around the 360hp mark plus/minus 5 or so hp.

What damage to value would modification cause? This is a modern classic which is already heavily valued £'kiss

Why not buy a second hand 335i and tweak but keep the 1M vanilla

+1

I certainly wouldn't annihilate the residual value of a 1M with mods-
On uk public roads I fail to see how a slight boost in the already superb performance
will be of much benefit.

I agree. I never felt mine was lacking, and I wouldn't buy one that had been modded (except perhaps for an exhaust upgrade).

Owner's perogative though, I guess.

If this were the Porsche forum (or Rennlist) everyone would be saying "get some tuition".
I've had two 1MC's, never (and I do mean never) did I feel the need for more go on the road. Better brakes, yep. Better tyres, (Michelin Pilot Super Sports), yep. Better dampers, yep. Better seats/seating position, yep. But never more horsepower.

Indeed.
