By 'kit' I was just referring to the bits needed, i.e guides, chain, sprockets etc. Most aren't available at the moment (from BMW) but have just mailed and asked for update.

Injectors from here - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/232087100426?euid=3d309f...

ZRP. I've done a bit of online research and made a couple of calls where the general consensus seems to be that they're pretty good. I'm going to check weights, dimensions etc once they arrive. There are a few VAG turbo builds running them with no issues though,

Mark, I saw on the RetroRides forum you've have your gearbox rebuilt at a place in Gravesend. I was wondering if you could give me some feedback on this as I live a few miles from Gravesend and had not heard of this place until you mentioned them.
Did they come recommended to you from someone as having a good reputation on this specific gearbox ? I am assuming so, as I believe you are in the west country area and quite a way away.
I know you are in the process of engine building so appreciate you won't have had chance to use it yet, but could you say what's been done to the box and anything of interest for myself who is looking to have the same g/box checked over.
Thanks

Quick question.

Can I go coil on plug using the S40? I'll be running wasted spark (which I just about understand) but even if I can, is there any benefit?

Thanks in advance.

You could in a wasted spark configuration. The S40 has two ignition outputs, so you could trigger coils 1&4 from one and 2&3 from the other.

What would this give you? Deleting plug leads, a neater looking set up and more work.

Well I decided against pursuing the CoP route although I may reconsider down the line. Right now though, I just want to get the engine in, wire the new loom and DTA, then map it. Actually the engine is now back, fitted and the wiring started. We are waiting on a couple of sensors though, as well as new HT leads and a fuel pressure sensor for the new VDO gauge. I know it's a small thing but I really love the new (to my car anyway) gauges and along with the newly refurbished momo steering wheel, they're a finishing touch for the interior.

The "big wing" sump kit arrived from the US and there's a new clutch from Sachs thanks to someone on here. I'm genuinely excited at the prospect of seeing it fire for the first time and seeing what power we actually get. It was about 20 bhp down on when it was new and I'm hoping it'll make 250'ish once it's had time to loosen up a little. It should be way more responsive now thanks to the flywheel and DTA too!
