F10 M5 or M6GC - thinking of getting back in an M.
Discussion
Loved my E60 M5, loved my F10 M5 and think the time to be back in an M is fast approaching. We had the F10 on 2 yr lease before it went back at Christmas and I know around the time we bought ours many others were starting to be returned from lease. I am quite surprised at how prices are holding up for these, £35k is about the entry point it seems. The M6GC is a beautiful car and I would love one ut trying to justify the £12k+ premium.
I havent follwed M5 prices for a while, has the market steadied for these even after the flood of ex lease cars?
Any good lease deals still available as the F10 lives out its twilight months before replacement?
Cheers,
mondie

If i had my time again &/or had the deals been comparable when i got my F10 M5, then i'd have chosen the M6GC as both inside & out it oozes a chunk of extra loveliness, however the M6GC was too new when i got my M5 & the insane deals available on that were not about on the M6 or GC.
I'm guessing you're looking at used in which case like you i've no idea on the price delta, however new the M6GC can be had with some insane levels of discount so must be a contender.

I like the silver black or white iPhone certainly not the "gold" - it is a marmite colour and the original owner has painted the wheels black original silver would have been much better. Welshbeef said:

Black wheels are a factory option. Don't like them myself, but each to their own.pvogue said:
Love the colour, brings out the best of the car.Wrong wheels though.
There must be reduced BMW support for these at present, the lease deals just aren't there.
F10's were down to circa £525/m 9+35 inc vat last September (not as good as 2013 but as low as they had been for a year or so). I got my M6GC for £650/m 9+35 (factory order not stock) from EWFS is Edinburgh, who were also offering the cheapest F10 deals (and had been doing so since 2013).
I ordered mine end of September, then from 1st Oct it jumped £400/m.
M6GC now £1000+ p/m minimum.

If it makes any odds, I tried both before going for the 5. I found the 6 claustrophobic due to its lack of glass roof, and narrower interior, but otherwise virtually the same in all other respects. Driving through the Alps a few weeks ago I was extremely glad to have that roof. Apart from sense of space and light, it lets you hear the V8 properly through the tunnels
The 6 is beautiful though, so I guess it just depends if you prefer form over function?

M5 is just fantastic, just brought mine down to Italy, 4-up with all the luggage.
1200 miles, jumped out of the car fresh as a daisy and with a big grin on my face.
It doesn't necessarily show its talents on the school run, but if you use it for trips like this then you can really see the incredible ability of the thing. It also gets very favourable response from other drivers on the continent, it seems they are two-a-penny at home.

I had a 3000 mile road trip last summer in my M5 mainly around Italy and as you say it's a great place to be, extremely comfortable and lots of really positive experiences throughout the journey.1200 miles, jumped out of the car fresh as a daisy and with a big grin on my face.

Mine goes shortly and I'll definitely miss the car, from my perspective it's a shame they don't offer a Touring.

I'm sure somewhere I've got pictures of the family but can't find them

I am very much a function over form guy like most of us. However the M6GC is just so bloody good looking. I thought I had read that the M6 steered and handled a little better too, low CoG I guess. Interior is more upmarket but I can see how it may feel a little tight. The 6 is beautiful though, so I guess it just depends if you prefer form over function?
If I go another M5 maybe it needs to be something a little more special, comp pack or a well optioned/colour combo'ed car.
Cheers
Some say "claustrophobic" others might say "driver centric, enveloping and luxurious"
But talking practicality....
The M6GC, unbelievably, has a bigger boot than the F10 M5 - 460L v 445L (That's bigger than my old E91 335i tourer boot at 459L). It's a good shaped boot too, as long as you don't have too many hard cases. And the M6 has split fold seats / ski bag etc as STANDARD (AFAIK it is the only car BMW sells with standard split fold seats).
The rear interior headroom is only 1" less in the M6GC than the M5 and the interior is no narrower. However, having sat in the back of both, the rear seats in the M6GC have a deeper sculpted seat base which is far more comfortable than (any) 5 series.
Admitted its 4 proper seats only (plus the straddle-the-hump seat for a child only really). But having come from an AMG E63 estate previously, the M6GC is more spacious in the back than that according to my family passengers.
You do sit lower, which I like, and avoiding full black interior is a good idea in any car really to avoid that coal-mine appearance. As for sunroofs, we're on the "haters" side, so not a issue for me.
Oh, that'a nice shot - look frameless doors too - lovely....;)

Interesting, I chose the 6 for the same reason, I found the 5 felt claustrophobic due to the higher and less sculpted dash. Gassing Station | M Power | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
