Took my E39 M5 to the Paris Motor Show a couple of years ago and it got loads of attention. Owned it 8 years now and I love it as much now as I did when I first got it.

No mine is Tanzanite Blue. I spotted the Tanzanite one in the front window of the dealer when I went in to sign the paperwork on a Grey CP M3. Could take my eyes off it, changed my order & went for that one instead

Luggage was a piece of cake. Three large soft bags in the boot and an overnight bag on the back seats between the kids.
Clean undercrackers everyday without fail!

Yas Marina Blue? Most impressive OP was the fact you got luggage for two weeks for 4 people in an F80 boot.

Was it a case of turn your pants inside out for week 2? wink

We got plenty of positive attention in France in our previous 2014 E63 AMG estate, and the 700 litre boot on that was just about big enough for one week of "wife stuff".

You don't really see a lot of high performance cars like the ones we get out in France, Spain, Portugal etc. For some reason they are usually a lot more expensive to buy new too. Perhaps this is one of the reasons for all the thumbs-up reactions etc.
The reason, I would imagine, is pretty simple. Unemployment rate is much lower in UK than Spain/Italy/Portugal, and people in the UK now like to lease everything so they are cheap and common.

I was stopped on the border in my E46 M3 between Germany and Austria as the police thought it might be stolen. Good to see they keep an eye out. It doesn't generate any real interest as even in Germany they are cheap now.

Except car leasing has been much more popular on the continent for years and still is. Same as property renting is much more common, they're not obsessed about "owning" things like we are. (Or pretending we own it when the bank does).

Crikey I knew their economies weren't the best but they must have problems to be impressed by an M3 hehe
I think it's because cars are bought primarily for function and that ostentatious signs of wealth are normally avoided culturally and historically. So performance cars are very rare, hence the interest. I assume France's GDP is currently higher than the UK's at the current low £ sterling value.

I took the E92 over to Guernsey last weekend. Despite it being populated with fairly high calibre cars, I was pleased to see a 10 year old boy jump up and down and shout M3 when we drove past - I'm sure he'll join the forum in a few years cool
