You don't need a 4 door! Wife had a Puma for the first year of ours, and I now run an e36 cab! wink

So.in the sprit of updates on these roulette cars.

She is now back on the road. I striped the smg pump off the car and found that the motor was badly worn out as is normally the case.

Had it striped down with and rebuilt new windings brushes and bearings. It now works a treat.

The car came with a massive history file including new clutch and flywheel less than 20k ago. Bonus

Other than a bit of grot on the mirror plinths and a bumper that needs painting it's very tidy.

And the number plate happens to be my initials (main reason I bought it sad but true)

Now the plan was to sell the m5 use this for a while while I save up for the next big toy but I hadn't bargained for haw big a difference there is from the e60 to this. But this another topic.

met a young guy at a petrol station the other day who was very keen to discuss his new M3 - he'd paid £4k blind. no service history at all. didnt seem phased by the possibility of big bills either.
In which case he got a bit of a bargain. I saw a very rough M3 on eBay with a knackered pump amongst other problems go for £5k a couple of weeks ago! It did have 90k on the clock which is why I suspect it went for that much.

As for the OP, that car looks lovely! Even the much hated Grey leather works very nicely with the dark blue exterior! I can see why you want to keep it!

If you don't mind me asking, how much did your Inspection cost and the pump motor? I understand there are new motor kits out there for £400 smile.

PS : You need to get onto MirrorJohn about your mirror! It's a small detail that has made a massive difference inside my car!

2nd pointer for mirror John. Did mine and it's very easy to do.

Don't let the liquid inside the mirror drip onto your interior - it's nasty stuff.

So quick up date. The inspection cost was the cost of the bits and I did it all my self there's nothing hard about servicing these cars.

The pump motor was £150 plus vat and postage. New bushes and windings etc. Took me about 2 hours to remove the pump fit the motor and replace the lot including changing the smg fluid

It's been perfect since.

The motor sounds like a right result! Nice one!

Not sure I agree on these cars being easy to work on. Yes most servicing is easy but the valve clearances are quite fiddly in terms of actually changing the shims.

Yes and the valve shim kit isn't particularly cheap either.

It's no more difficult than any other shimed engine. As with all things M related parts are expensive.
