Sorry not sure I understand. Your saying the M5 drives far better?

I’m currently looking at these as a prospective purchase at the low end of the AUC market. I.e 25k.

I was mainly looking at v8 m3’s but these look better value for money.

Just how much worse are these going to be run financially than an M3? Both would be under bmw warranty.

Many Thanks!
I ran an E90 M3 from new for 3 years followed by an F10 from 3 months old for 6 years.

My experience was that there was not a huge difference in the running costs. Mpg about the same but otherwise the M5 was slightly more expensive on tyres and other items. M5 went through rear break pads more quickly but I didn’t need to replace the front pads in 66,000 miles!

I’m sure that if things started to go wrong the M5 would have been able to put a bigger dent in the wallet, but I was fortunate not to suffer that experience on either car. They were both very reliable.

Different m5, and that was a non bmw warranty.

There are 2x M5 engine failure threads here

AngryMan poster has the E60 with ruined engine
Another chap has the F10 M5 with ruined engine and a big legal issue with a certain warranty company who apparently will not pay out.

Do you mean me? My E60 didn't have a warranty with an aftermarket company, it was with the company who did the work, which wasn't worth the paper is was never written on.

I am currently feeling brave. When my E60 returns and is run in, I'll be putting it up for sale and looking at getting an F10, without warranty.

PH seem to delete the oddest of links these days - news articles from the BBC or guardian apparently the content they have are against the T&Cs.... bizarre

Bmw full comp warranty inc emergency breakdown, £92 month with 250 excess .... car in 11/2015 and had 35k at start of warranty.

Worth the lot - as you can hear if you listen at service desk when hearing lads go through peoples itemised lists when getting self funded repairs done ... daft to scary invoices being settled on even runabout BMWs....

Is that 92pm coming off the back of an AUC or the original 3yr bmw manufacturer warranty? 92pm is great value. It's almost double that if it lapses though. If it's just a matter of finding an AUC and then carrying on the warranty that's great. OTOH if it means finding one that's about to come out of manufacturer warranty that's getting harder. There is one near me at 37k in imola red which is still under manufacturer warranty but that's out of my budget. AUC can be had from mid 20's now.

Edit to ask what the 35k was on your car - new engine?

That was going straight from bmw 3 year warranty and through their online quote which is front to Allianz.

No end date on policy just keep it going, provide DD keep paying.

The 35 k was miles on car when policy taken out, so just showing average mileage for age not super low or mega miles ... still have the balance of the 5 year service pack to run too.

ah ok thanks for clarifying. Good to hear you didn't need £35k of warranty work too.
