This sort of behaviour normally stems from being envious, bitter, and jealous of others success.
Certainly envious of his vehicle history some I could afford others not a chance and it certainly wouldn't pass the Mrs decision on it either.

Anyway back to the 1M.

Do you really care? He has a very special 911 as well as a 205 Rallye etc tucked away.
Has he? Which model? Must've missed that!

can't say I enjoyed my experience with the 1M, way overhyped IMO. felt very bouncy and drove a bit like a heavily tuned MINI.

my conclusion - sexy arches matter!
I see your M5 is up for sale again - just the £20k mark-up since you sold it!

Weird, I was saying this today as they had a small BMW stand with an M2 on it at Silverstone today for the Touring cars.

I much prefer the 1M to the M2.

Also, the Pedals in the M2 are so awfully offset it's a fking shambles.
Completely removes the joy of a 3 pedal setup.

Often wondered who owns that now? It's just how I would have a 911 myself.

He bought it back last year. I desperately want an air cooled 911. Or a GT3...

That will give 1M prices a little nudge, not that they need it
Why would Chris Harris buying a car increase prices?

I regretted selling this car (at the time) but enjoyed seeing the transformation. It was done just a few miles from home and is a terrific example now. Sadly it appears to hardly get any use (commitments elsewhere I'm sure) but it's making money just sitting there I suppose)
He's bought a Sport Evo since buying your car and taking it rallying...bought it from Classic Heroes IIRC.

Did he not sell it a couple of months ago too?

Firstly, who the hell would buy a car from Chris Harris?

Secondly, what planet are people living on when they question how he affords them? He is the most popular car journalist right now. He is a TopGear presenter. He has over 27million views on YouTube and he is a paid racing driver. He will be making several hundred thousand a year and if he's not, he should be. Just look at the impact of his review on TopGear has had on M2 sales.

There is no doubt the 1M is an epic drive- no surprise Chris Harris bought one.
It is far more fun to drive than some sports cars costing double the money.
The entire motoring media raved about the car when it was released and evidently it's still
considered better than more recent M models.
Surprised Harris bought a black one- Valencia orange is the 1M colour!

1M at £45k or M2 later this year for same money - which is the better drive (from those who've driven both) and will hold its value better (presumably 1M given low production)?

I must be the only person on the planet who found the 1M very average to drive. But then my reference point was the E46 CSL.

The chassis was fine, but the engine just felt soulless.

That is surprising.

Some reckon the E46 CSL is overrated out of the M3 breed, but personally I love the things ; there is a good reason why many attempt to emulate them!

The last part of your post is something I see wrong with the new Ms. That said, I guess they have to please the EcoBunnies somehow.

I found the 1M very reminiscent of my E30 M3. It had a real analogue feel to it and personally, I loved the engine. I loved the fact it wasn't huge, which newer 3 series seem by comparison, and how nimble it felt. I couldn't compare it to a CSL, as I have only driven one very briefly, but I just feel the 1M is more a modern take on the older M cars.
