I currently have a 2015 BMW X6M (576BHP) and am thinking of changing to a Range rover sport SVR
(540 BHP). The beemer as been good as gold for the 15000 miles I have done and still has 4 years free servicing. I just fancy a change, I just have reservations re reliability and build issues.
I have never owned a Land rover but our company chairman has had two range rovers from brand new the last one being a 2008 model that had numerous gear box and brake caliper issues.

Many thanks for any info and views.

Land Rover and Range Rover use the 8 speed ZF gearbox that BMW now use, so don't worry about that.
My wife has had an Evoque from new (almost 3 years old now), and that seems pretty well screwed together. My M5 is the same age and I would say the quality is no better or worse.
The SRV RR Sport sounds dirty (in a good way smile)

Had 2 evoques in the family, used an rrs and a brand new evoque while mine was off road for 4 months - never again.

I've got an x6 now. The quality is in a different league.

RR's are charming; BMW's are reliable. Up to you.

Have you considered the Cayenne, I think the new one will be excellent or take advantage of great deals on the current one if, like me, you're rubbish at waiting?

Do you make use of the IDrive infotainment/Nav/Comms etc in the X5M?
If so, then this leagues better then the system in the RR.

Unless the off-road ability/ride comfort advantage of the RR is the overriding reason for changing, I'd take the X5M over the RRS.
