Is the Z4M Coupe going to follow the Z3MC in price..?
Discussion
I have zero facts to hand.
But IMO
The breadvan is very special
The open top Z3M has an iconic engine but is let down looks wise
The Z4M coupe looks better, and still has a mighty engine
The Z4M open top still looks weird, but has that engine
The current Z4s are better looking still, but seem to have a ropey build quality.
Any wonderful RWD car with an iconic engine and a manual gearbox will have it's moment in the sun.... before the generation that was born when no ICE's were made is born...
A nice Z4M coupe will be a car that appreciates I reckon

I don't see why not - a Z4MC with @60k miles is @£17-£20k and the equivilant Z3MC's are £29k-£37k (!!!) but are they selling for this amount? Who knows...
If this is an investment, you'll need to factor in servicing (will still need it), insurance etc for the next 6-8 years while the rest get crashed / die / into the hands of people who don't look after them.

I'm no expert but in terms of the "specialness" the Z4M isn't in the same league as the original M coupe.
I'd agree with this. To some extent, a rising tide raises all boats (or whatever the phrase is), so a bit of a price rise is probably inevitable. But I don't see them ever having the same appeal, nor the same value rises, as the original.Gruber said:

The Z4M Coupe looks too much like a normal Z4 Coupe (like mine ). Without the badges 99% of people wouldn't know any different.

99% you say. So a potential market of only 700 million people who know their onions. The Z3M Coupe looks like nothing else.

We're thinking of selling ours after 3 years and it hasn't depreciated.
I think as many people will be drawn by the originality of the Mcoupe as will be put off by the handling stories.
As for the 4s build quality comment
I think that Z4Ms hit the floor about two years ago and won't go any further.
Even though the M3 it's based on is still sinking, that's probably because it's more useable as a daily and therefore less likely to be a garage queen.

If you want to buy a Z3M, you want to buy a Z3M.
If you want to buy a Z4M you consider all the alternatives and weigh up pro and cons and then may decide to buy a Z4M.
Know the LHD market may be different but in Belgium the Z3MC is now a 40.000+ euro car, and the Z4MC has over the last year gone from 25-28.000 euro to 40.000+ too. I would assume that the relative rarity and "back to basics" approach will keep values high, even if the big jump has happened.

Z4MCs seem to be mostly below the £20K price point here. Some are advertised for as much as £25K but not sure they're moving.
One was up for 50k in Hexagon. I do understand that everyone is now scoffing who either understands 'up for' means not sold, or are familiar with Hexagon
Definitely bottomed out and on the rise though.
Great engine in a special feeling package.
Z4MC is the next one to shoot up in value after all the CSLs go over 100k or get stashed away.

They did make a normal Z3 coupe with 2.8/3.0 engines so quite similar to the Z4 in that regard. The Z3M Coupe looks like nothing else.

I paid just over £20K for one in 2010 with 18,000 miles. I sold it nearly 2 years later for a grand less than I had paid for it so it looks like they are appreciating, but slowly, especially when you consider how mad the market has been in the last couple of years. I really enjoyed mine but not sure I would buy another one if I had the chance.AdamD said:

Did they? I don't think they did. Some people baulk at calling it a Z3MC, purists call it the M Coupe, it's far removed as a concept and experience to a Z3, imo.
Also known as the "Breadvan" or "The Clowns Shoe" and yes your right there was no other variant sold for the UK market....Cheburator mk2 said:
The funny thing is that as a car the Z4MC is so much better than the Z3MC straight out of the box. I had both for a long time...
I won't disagree but having owned both myself and togethr for a while the 4 is a better more refined car but the 3 is more fun imo and quirkier...CRA1G said:

For sure... I think the interior of the Z3M is superbly resolved and the quality is a lot better than the Z4M, but the driving experience in a standard Z3M is definitely pants compared to a Z4MAnd I used to have this one...
