Thanks for that
We have 40 posts in this thread now. Does this make us a forum lol?So from what i've learned on here in early 2018 I will be looking for either the last E64 (v10 convertible) with spare cash to keep it in tip top shape for many years or a 2013 F12 (conv) or F13 (coupe)
Lol. Yep. And don't forget once you get your new secondhand piece of automotive financial lunacy, that every time you look at it drive it, it will spin a bearing, destroy its clutch/SMG, melt its vanos down or require a full engine replacement.
You will, however, giggle manically every time you use more than half throttle.

Are you saying they are not the most reliable of exotica, I was going for the BMW over a 911 for reliabilityYou will, however, giggle manically every time you use more than half throttle.

No, I am saying that if you believe the forums then every time you drive it it will be ruinous. In my experience this has not been the case but having said that the cars do come with proper high performance car bills so not cheap to run. Get a PPI and a warranty if you can and go for it. In Australia theses cars don't fall into the hands of modders and are very expensive so probably get babied a lot (same with 911). As I mentioned before, I have the V10 which is just glorious but has a really bad rap on Internet forums (mostly in the USA) for reliability but I got a PPI and joined the Local BMW club and have had a few specialists look at it and they told me that the issues discussed on the forums are very very rare and almost unheard of here in Aus. In 911 land everyone gets excited about IMS bearings and bore scoring in cars upto 997 series II 2008/9 but these are also rare issues. Buy a late model 981 Cayman and have it all would be another option. My V10 M6 has been a lot more reliable than the Range Rover Sport I used to own!
Most contributors on internet forums are looking for help with a problem, so the majority of stories you see will be about problems. After all, everyone expects things to work 100% of the time nowadays, so would be a bit dull to post about how reliable your car has been.
So my post is a bit dull.
There are risks with any exotic car, but there are also the most exquisite pleasures.

This is the latest E63 I can find May 2009

Hold out for one with the full leather, i.e. leather on the dash, doorcards, alcantara headlining etc.http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/b...
Don't wanna be staring at and resting your elbows on plastic on this kind of car.

10 plate (end of line after this, I saw a couple earlier in the year) but as above doesn't have the nicer FULL leather option

I'm debating one as a daily (E64)
Trying to find an E64 In good condition from an enthusiast seems hard work. Trying to find a blue one almost seems impossible! Exhaust wise, any recommendations? Is there valves you can force to be kept open (like in the vantage by removing fuse 22)?
