From what I gather from other forums, including cutters, BMW went on to offer a recall service for the drivers airbag. Certainly our local BMW service agent intimated this. He said 'the passenger airbag has been done. but not the drivers side' did you want to book it in for the work. Maybe your car is not affected by the recall? I should check very carefully with your main agent perhaps.
In the meantime I have managed to kerb one of my brilliantly diamond cut front wheels!!!! Another job to be attended to
I can't believe I managed to be so careless, these cars are wider than I allowed for. Blast my carelessness.

Your post caused me to contact my local dealer to find out whether the recall had been done on mine; it hadn't. The car is booked in for the 17th to have both pax and driver side airbags done. They're also going to carry out a complimentary check and a winter prep for £30 which I thought sounded reasonable.

I've discovered my headlamp washers aren't popping out and spraying - after gently prising them out, they're bone dry inside so either the pump's not pushing fluid through or the filter in the bottom of the tank is blocked. I'm actually not all that bothered by having them working as it used to annoy me on my 123d that it would coat the bonnet with washer fluid, however if memory serves it's now a failure point on an MOT?

Sorry to hear about your alloy - I nearly did one of mine on a kerb yesterday!

Pleased that posting about the recall has served a good purpose. Apparently BMW say that they have had zero failure on their cars but are taking no risk, quite rightly.
I'm going to find out if a space saver spare is available for the car, I hate the idea of no spare in the boot.

The headlight washer issue could be down to low washer fluid.

I thought mine was not working yesterday. I had the low washer level fluid light on. Topped it up and the light went out. I also got my Headlight washers back. I can only guess it is a fluid saver function BMW put in. It literally soaksthe headlights in fluid.

The driver's airbag recall is a new one. About a month old. I got mine done last month.

May be different on the M3 but I have a SS spare under the boot in mine...?

Topped up the fluid last night, it's definitely something on the pump side. The arms felt a bit stiff being pulled out - I was being extra-careful so as not to break anything. Even then I found that the cover has a broken clip on one side - a dab of superglue should fix it though.

First step will be to disconnect the tube to the lights and see if there's fluid in it. If there is then it's stiff washer stalks. If not then the pump's not pushing fluid through...

Hope the washer repair works out well.
I dislike BMW zero paper policy regarding repair and service. New owners to the breed buying older cars can easily caught out it seems. The only reason I found out about the drivers airbag recall was my nosing around in the 'cutters' forum and I had no idea if the passengers airbag had been rectified. Unless I'm missing something.

Just a note to say that the drivers one is a recall too, give them a call and they will swap it.
