It's very very offset, I would not buy one for that reason. Many BMW's (and Audi A4s etc) suffer the same.
I actually checked, compared to my car the clutch pedal on the M2 is where my brake pedal on my car is.

Yeah - of course you can turn the traction off and generate a bit of a slip angle on a greasy road - and that's all very good fun, I went out today expressly to do that round the roundabouts of Milton Keynes.

But if you are fully crossed up on the lockstops with smoking tyres on the road you're going to have a massive accident or get banned and on a trackday you'll just get flagged.

Ergo these video's concentrate on the type of driving only journalists on empty circuits can indulge in.
You can do whatever "you" want on the roads, just have to pick your moments wisely...

A man made rule or law only exists if there is someone there to enforce it(or you enforce it on self).

All I see this as is CH buying a 1M, then a few months later writing an article stating it is much better that the latest offerings.

I reckon, 6months CH's 1M will be for sale once the market has responded to the good press the model has received.

The 1m had far more character imo.

M2 has an awful and i mean awful driving position as a manual.
Pedals are 1ft offset. Not acceptable
I haven't driven the manual but in the DCT I found my left foot/leg seemed awfully cramped against the foot well.

I'm a big fan of the 1M and I'd gladly have another. But you need to set your definition of "icon" pretty low for the 1M to make the grade.
Words can get banded about and dilute the meaning. Most M cars are brilliant but it doesn't mean every other one is an icon.

I found the same.
I could live with it at least as a DCT.

Comapre to the Jags or Mercs its awful.

I had a brief drive of a 1M just after they came out and didn't see what all the fuss was about - I'd have chosen a Cayman R or 987 Spyder over one in an instant. For me an E46 CSL feels much more special but would be interested to have a go in an M2.

It's somewhat subjective whether you would call the 1M iconic- but it's obviously a modern classic in the very least.
I'd prefer mine over an M2 any day.
Seats 4 people and goes like hell whilst also rare enough to stand out from the crowd-what not to like?
I have to agree about Chris Harris and the constant drifting- no use whatsoever in the real world and it would be more useful
at times talking about general ownership- that said I prefer Chris Harris videos to the other dross floating around online.

Agree with the above every video is drifting .

I find Steve sutcliffe a good journo , easy to listen to and very informative with good relative detail
